It's "redemption night" at Moore Field in several different ways tonight.
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun baseball team will officially hold "Ticket Redemption" night when the Cajuns (41-11) welcome Southeastern La. at 6:30 p.m. to begin the season's final regular-season home series.
Anyone holding unused tickets for games played earlier this season may trade them in for tickets for tonight's game. There is no limit on the numbers of tickets available for trade-in, so fans holding several unused tickets may use them for families or groups.
For the Cajun players, redemption is more about remembering both March 16 and Sunday afternoon. On that March date, UL saw a 9-2 third-inning lead vanish in an 11-inning 12-11 loss to the Lions (22-26), a night memorable more for its bitter cold than its baseball.
"That was a good lesson for us," Cajun coach Tony Robichaux said after that game. "It was good for us to get punched in the mouth a little. We learned that you can't relax and you can't sit on a lead."
The Cajuns also lost in an opponents' last at-bat Sunday, when New Mexico State rallied for a 9-8 victory in Las Cruces to salvage one game of their Sun Belt Conference series.
