Ncbwa Poll--will be out tomorrow

It is funny how we go 3 and 2 for the week and move up against weak rpi teams and then when we beat good rpi teams we either stay or fall in the polls I guess the teams ahead of us didn't do as well either?

They are # 30 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and St john's is # 25 in Baseball America as long as team we have already beat this year continue in move up it will help with our rpi rating.

This is mostly of function of how teams ranked in the vicinity of the Cajuns fare that particular week.

In any event, the SEBaseball.com National Poll has the Cajuns at #14. I had them at #18 in my ballot.

I assume you mean move up in the RPI. Having our opponents move up in the rankings has absolutely no effect on the Cajun RPI (or anyone's RPI).

But the rankings are good for one thing when postseason selections roll around. They are good PR. Sort of a built in positive bias when your team is being discussed in the selection room. The Selection Committee might not watch a lot of baseball during the year. But they do watch the polls. In fact, some of them vote in various polls.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Asasociation (NCBWA) poll for May 9, is out and the Cajuns have moved up to number 12. You will recall, last week the Cajuns were 13. Tulane hold the top spot with LSU ranked at 16.
