    Will never happen.
Why aspire to have a mascot that an already established SEC program has?
Red Gator? Green Gator? Who cares.
We are the Ragin' Damn Cajuns.
    Not bulldogs. Not Gators.
Cherish the Louisiana heritage through our our state dog if you want or need something for the camera to zoom into. Make the handler a pretty girl with a French last name.
This program needs to stop trying to "re-identify" itself and simply rid ourselves of the bush-league pepper mascot.
And the name? ULL? Embrace it until the state and our admin. change the name.
Keep winning, keep the program funded, keep HUD happy, and the rest will work itself out.
"Gator rides"? Too much time on your hands..

Keep Hud happy? Certainly. But keep in mind Hud doesn't like "ULL" either. Hud wants "Louisiana". He made that a theme in his first year. It is an element of his pre-game video for this game.

How about this for a brain cramp!

UL Press through all 113 years of existence (including La Louisiane, L' Acadien, RaginCajuns.com) has published more pictures of BullGators than any other animal.

So what do they do? Pick a pepper as the UL spirit leader.

Now some want a Catahoula Leopard Dog. I wonder how may Lafayette Leopard jerseys get shipped here if that happens?

Can Coach HUD change our name? If he can let him run!!!
If he can't, take what we have and win with it.
Then you might hear ESPN make up their own efficient names for us that will stick.

    Gator....no.

Rougarou is the coolest idea I have heard. Great idea. Naming him Roux would be cool too.

Why do we always discuss the mascot. Is it on the verge of being changed or something? Not griping just curious.....

They already are making up their own names for us.

Look, if some of you want to give up, that's your choice. Why does it bother you so much that others in the fan base won't join you in defeatism?

Defeatism? Wtf are you talking about. It's the name of our university. Until we somehow get the name officially changed, you're gonna bang your head against a brick wall for 100 more years and nothing will change. You wanna be called something you really aren't, your looking to get mocked continuously. It's the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. As long as ULM exists we are screwed. So maybe our focus should be on either seeking a name change or making what we have as good a product as possible. The argument is old and stagnant and going nowhere.

We are creating a good product. We can chew gum and walk at the same time. There are too many examples of schools known athletically by brands other than their "official" names. And our "official" name gets mocked right now. "oohLaLa" being just one example.

Again, what skin is it off your ___?

Full names are only used once in a letterhead and not again.

If it isn't on the letterhead it is used once in the body and not again.

How a name is implemented begins at home.

Do you use your full name in every encounter?

no skin, just irritating to see the same sad song sung over and over and over..
As long as ULM has a say in the "university of Louisiana" thing, we're screwed. Despite the fact that
we are two universities going different directions, their logo sucks, their helmets suck, their school sucks, their athletic department is broke ___ and sucks, etc...doesn't matter. Empowered with their inferiority complex, the name game is going nowhere.
Acadiana University--boom...did that blow your mind? It's a new millennium. You want separation? you want a brand? you want unique? chew on that.

Nope. Others have proposed the Acadiana University name. It reeks of DII

Same way Notre Dame reeks of High School, but they made it work.
