Acadiana University can't be jacked with. We beat an SEC or ACC school, it will be a household name. People unfamiliar with the heritage will slowly be informed. Maybe you should read the little wiki article. It's dumb that they didn't think of it sooner, during the USL (university of slow learner days) If the name had been changed 20-30 years ago, we'd be over the "reeks of D2" hump by now.
You lambast UL's natural habitat mascot as some kind of theft, then in almost the same breath defend a school who never recieved the required votes to move beyond Junior College status.

Then you tout them as rightful equals. You sir are a conundrum.

Gators live everywhere from Texas to Florida.
It's just tired and been done before, what's next? you want our student section to start doing the double arm Gator bite thing?
I don't think ULM is equal. But unfortunately they do have the same damn name that we do, minus location, and we need a clean break.
I'm tired of this. Bring on the game. You guys keep ____in' in the wind regarding the name. Have fun with that.

One obstinate national holdout and you think they are the wind?

    Really?

We don't want to be the ones to blink and change our name back or to something else. Can bet the farm the last man standing won't have to change their name back, and bam! Someone will be UL by default.

Any new name change proposal would have to be coupled with both universities changing their names.

I gurantee you that if NLU (North Louisiana University) were on the ballot up there it would pass by a mile.

Sounds like a great plan. That should only take about a decade.

As long as ULM has a say in the "university of Louisiana" thing, we're screwed. Despite the fact that
we are two universities going different directions, their logo sucks, their helmets suck, their school sucks, their athletic department is broke ___ and sucks, etc...doesn't matter. Empowered with their inferiority complex, the name game is going nowhere.
Acadiana University--boom...did that blow your mind? It's a new millennium. You want separation? you want a brand? you want unique? chew on that.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acadiana
Not Acadiana University, but if a name change would of took place it should of been Acadia University or just plain Acadia. Like Auburn, Syracuse, App. State.

We have to play the hand we are dealt and our goal is Louisiana, not ULL, Lou-Laf, ULaLa. We need to stay on course the more we separate ourselves the more we will become Louisiana.

Plus our nickname is unique, where we located is unique, what we are is unique, not everything has to be original. It just has to work!
