If there were, I do think you would see an exception. Too many schools would need to be shipped in to Lafayette if the NCAA were to award the Cajuns a regional in Mark's bracket. Also keep in mind that the RPI is only a tool used by the committee. It is not the final say in assessing the strength of teams.

If the LSU, Tulane, and UL were all national seeds, you would see three Louisiana regionals. But simply being a #1 seed does not give you the right to host. Else, they would not be called regionals.

UL's chances of hosting hinge on how LSU does in its final nine conference games and how the Cajuns finish the season. It will be Baton Rouge or Lafayette.

Thanks Brian. Always appreciate the insight.

    You're right.

Bur what scares me, is that we lost to Little Rock and are down to Sam Houston in the first game. We can not afford to lose anymore this season. I hate to have to rely on LSpuke.

I do not think LSU's RPI is not going to be the deciding factor as to whether they receive a host regional or not. At this point, conference finish will. If the Tiger's lose enough conference games down the stretch to finish 6th or below in conference, they likely will not host. But if this does not happen, they could lose the rest of their midweek games and their RPI is going to be plenty high enough to host.

If we win the sun belt regular season and the conference tourney and Lspuke just falls apart and somehow dont qualify for there own conference tourney we way have a short.

Not all of that has to happen in order for the Cajuns to host.

#1 The Cajuns need to win a high % of their remaining games and win the conference title.

#2 The Cajuns will need a decent showing in the conference tournament, enough to keep their RPI in range of a #1 seed. Winning the conference tournament at this point is not a must. Not unless they lose a few too many down the stretch.

#3 LSU could conceivably finish as high as #6 in the conference and not host. This is based on statistics I have collected from the selections conducted since the new format commenced in 1999.

Thanks Brian--we could host but will need a lot of these to go our way the game 1 lost to Sam Houston hurt and I dont think it would help much even if we would have won both but they can hurt we need to win game 2 and sweep this weeken conference series
