What else would you expect from them it is their job!..... They would be crazy to say how they really feel. "We s-ck but wait until next year"

I heard this story last year "Wait until next year". It gets old after awhile!

Big time programs will require big time funding. Just look at the UL-NCAA audit from 2006 on page 11 attached. UL football lost 1.22 million dollars on operations while the coaches salaries were at the 1 million dollar mark.

Maybe it is time for accountability. But, where will your money come from?

I understand all that and trust me im not smart enough to figure out where the money is going to come from...im a fan its not my job to figure that out although I will help where ever a poor student is able to help. I just know if as a school you are serious about athletics you have to find a way to get things done. We have had a lot of big things happen under Bustle as far as funding goes but imagine if we would WIN. In the last week I have spoken to 2 UL alums who have money and would love to watch football games at the Swamp if the product was worth it. Us fans who make it to every game see what the team is capable of doing but a lot of people show up for a few games and see what they view as the same ole Cajuns and don't come back. I love coach Bustle I think he has done a lot for this program but like i have been saying I feel he has hit a plateau and he will not take us any further. And if money is an issue I gave 2 other names who are not big time coordinators who UL could afford to get. There are plenty of names out there who are proven winners. This program has come a long way sense Baldwin and I don't want to see it fall back into the same position it was in.

Mitchell is still the all-time leading rusher.

I don't care who runs the ball, who catches the ball, and who tackles the person with the ball all I care about is winning. I don't want to hear about throwing the ball to the TE or Desmo is running the ball to much...why does it matter if we arent winning. There are a lot of teams that don't throw to the TE or don't run the QB at all. then some temas throw to the TE all day long and run the ball with the QB all day long, why does it matter. If we were 5-0 no one would be saying a damn thing about who is running with the ball or who is catching the ball. It's all about winning!!!! I am personally sick of losing when I see a team that has the potential to do very well in this conference. I understand this team is young but come on no more excuses this is Bustles 6th year, he has had time to get the guys in here to do things. He could have gotten JUCO talent to fill holes till a young guy was ready to take over...I do like Bustle and what he has done but come on guys the excuses we have all been using for the last 2 years aren't good anymore because this is his team.

My original point is in response to the concept that UL football has reached a new low. Do we say that UL football is at a new low because we lost a game that we were picked to lose? And Des is doing a great job as QB, especially given our need to scramble in the backfield. He may not be a long passer, but he certainly mixes up the run, option and short pass quite effectively. You are correct that we need better defense...hopefully it will come soon. But let's not say that we are at an all-time low after losing a game that we were expected to lose.

See you at the Swamp on Saturday for the W!!!
    Geaux Cajuns!!!!
Acctually, my purpose isnt because of the loss, if it was just a loss, I woulden't have cared. The new low comes from the apathy around right now. The night after a road game against a good team, and there's NOTHING on the forum. Not a "we suck" or a "moral victory", nothing, and that means that things are worse than when fans are saying "we suck". I just wanted to see some fire from the fans, and there just wasn't any. Something needs to change so that fans can start caring again.

I did my rating system based on our conference. I think our coordinators last year did a far better job than the ones we have now. But I understand that someones head had to roll, but it was a mistake to let Pry go for sure. Our Defensive coordinator we have now is a moron. Our coaching gets a D-, and may God have mercy on their souls. haha

QB=B-, Mike D. is the most athletic person on the team. Our only weakness is depth and passing. But with Mike putting up 250+ yards a game(combined), who needs depth.

RB=B, Our backfield is looking good with speed and depth, when fenroy returns this will be our strongest position on the field.

WR=C+, smith, cherry, and falgoust are damn good recievers, richie isn't the fastest but the kid could catch herpes in a nun convent. i'd like to see some 5 wide though....haha but who wouldn't?

OL=F-, horrible, no protection at all. I haven't seen a D-line yet that hasn't been able to have their way with these guys. Fisher is good, and Newman is too, but they are both out.

TE=C, guys have great hands and size, but aren't utilized enough.

DL=F, don't take on blocks, always getting blown off the ball.

LB=C-, this is our strongest position on defense, zander's and fleming's speed on the outside, and Burkhalter anchoring the middle. If d-line was worth a S#it these guys could make plays.

CB=D, these guys are getting better, but consistancy kills us. we also lack quickness and awareness. don't have the ability or speed to break on the ball.

FS/SS=D+, see CB, morgan's hype bumps it up to a +. haha.

K=D, how can one guy who does one thing all practice seem to _____ it up? In D-I football repeated out of bounds kicks are unacceptable. If we got one kick into the end zone, even if it was during a hurricane, i'd streak the field.

P=G-, pathetic. waist of a scholarship. There has got to be someone else on the team who can punt the ball. The kid can kick, but only in practice.

  9. UL Football Weekly Award Winners

UL - Each week, the Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns football coaching staff honors its outstanding performers from the previous week's game by designating them as Player of the Game.

This week’s Offensive Player of the Game award was given to junior wide receiver Derrick Smith for his performance against UCF. Smith finished the game with three receptions for a game-high 88 yards, including a touchdown reception, and added four kickoff returns for 135 yards.

The Special Forces Players of the Game honors also went to Derrick Smith for excellent play on coverage teams. Smith had an 86- yard kickoff return in the second half.

The Offensive Scout Team Player of the Week was Julian Shankle. The Defensive Scout Team Player of the Week was Ross Goodlet.

  10. UL Football Ragin' Cajuns Host North Texas Saturday

UL - Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns head football coach Rickey Bustle addressed the media Monday about his team's upcoming game with the North Texas Mean Green during his weekly press luncheon at the Cox Communications Athletic Center.

Last weekend, Louisiana (0-5) lost 37-19 to the UCF Knights at the first ever night game at Bright House Networks Stadium in Orlando, Fla. UCF scored twice late in the second quarter to open up a close game, taking a 30-6 halftime lead. In the second half, Louisiana outscored UCF 13-7, but the Knights' first-half cushion provided too great of a margin in the end.

North Texas, under first-year head coach Todd Dodge, is off to a 0-4 start. The Mean Green has defeated the Cajuns in six of the last seven meetings, including last season's 16-7 triumph at Cajun Field. North Texas leads the all-time series 8-3.

Following Saturday's game with North Texas, the Cajuns travel to Jonesboro, Ark., to face the Arkansas State Indians on Oct. 13, before returning to Cajun Field for Homecoming on Oct. 20.
