QB B- needs work on the deep ball
RB B- Full back needs a few touches, Get Deon to the outside with some quick pitches.
WR C if we are going to throw 2 yd routes need to set up some wide reciever screens
OL C- For the number of injuries and the youth, run blocking is decent pass protection needs a little work on drop back passes, they do look good when we run roll out passes
TE D because we dont use them. Block pretty good on run plays. need to spread them out like the colts do with Clark.
DL F Cant stop run, cant get pressure on Qb, Looks like they read and react slowly.Need to run more line stunts, maybe switch some players around
LB F cant stop run cant get pressure on Qb, need to blitz more, if on pass protection need to actully cover some one.
CB C- No pressure from DL or LB's make them look bad. On press coverage need to hit WR's off the line
FS/SS C- need to anticipate the ball more
K F In high school they routinly kick ball into endzone, Kick 50+ FGs, So why do we sky Kick?
P F no one on scholorship can kick the Ball.
Coaches
Head C- Need to get players motivated in the second Half
OFF C+ need to open play book more, slow down the pace run the clock. More O by us less time D is on the field
Def F Need to blitz blitz blitz
You are correct. It is completely proposterous at this point to say that MD should not be at the helm going forward. I could see a couple of games that it might have been good to pull Mike for a series, but I cannot criticize the staff for sticking with a winner (and he is). It is pure fan frustration to be clammering about changing QBs. I get caught up in wanting to turn the whole program upside down and slam it against a wall. We are all frustrated with losing.
I wouldn't mind a few more wrinkles in the playcalling, but otherwise the offense has been OK. I think the hurry up crapola was crapola. Past SC, our OL was fatigued way too early in a game. The hurry up only served to wear our OL out. It was a contributing factor to our second half let downs offensively. I'm not sure I saw a lot of it (hurry up), but I think they were trying and just getting worn out. I've made up my mind that I hate it and it should be scrapped... forever. "You don't put on 300 pounds to hurry up!"
The defense has not been up to the task of multiple threat offenses. I believe this will get a little less of a concern for the majority of the remaining SBC contests. Regardless, the DL is unskilled or unwilling to figure out how to stunt and pressure the QB. I do not know what to say about our corners. They seem to be OK with a tackle after reception, instead of a coverage for incompletion/interception. I would really like to see a roaming safety that hits like a truck become the leader/mindset for our defensive secondary. Our linebackers are good run-stop guys but do not assist well in pass protection. We haven't compensated for that very well.
On the upside... I have not seen quit in these guys yet. I am impressed that they have fought as hard as they have. It is time to get a pay-off and take a win to the house.
I'm taking the lazy route... ditto what Shammy said on the goals/objectives for improvement. Otherwise, I give the players a B on the first 5 games (C on execution, B+ on hanging tuff). I think we have played 5 tough opponents and it we came up a quarter and a half short on the bill each time.
I give the staff a D. And staff, I must warn you, I have written letters to your parents and they are getting ready to cut you off ($) if you keep just hanging around college without any results.
Bad news, their QB throws. Alot.
Good news:
Opposing teams have averaged 55 points per game on their defense. NT's offense averages 17 points a game.
NT defense has given up 2,481 yards in four games. That's an average of 620.25 yards a game.
We definitely have a good chance to win this game. Keep fingers crossed.
