Maybe a Pep-rally, explaining what is going on..... also why not create some sort of riff that the crowd can get involved in..... Something where we spell cajuns or where you play a bar and we end with geaux cajuns.... something to get the people in the stands going. That should become the overall goal of the band.

We can do it at the few pep rallies we have during the season, like Yell Like Hell etc.

We do have some cheers. The shorts few bars of music we play. The red zone seems to get into it, of course there 3 feet away.

We have the Hey Song! (Like the old Ice Gators song) Where the cheerleaders and red zone yell Geaux!... U!... L!... RAGIN CAJUNS! GEAUX! UL!

    Geaux Cajuns
DA da da da da da da GEAUX CAJUNS!, repeated 4 times.

    Go big red
Music music music GEAUX BIG RED!, repeated a few times.

And of course we have Do What Ya Wanna!
Which really isnt a sing along deal, but a dance and do what ya wanna thing.

Really, do what you wanna..... I wanted to choke someone during the game.... I will have to listen for that one.

    haha.

I think its Do What Ya Wanna! (Within the limits of the law)

It's a little less catchy, but more specific.

The concession stand? gimmie a break. The lines were long and slow.

I think its pretty terrible that they couldn't have been more prepared for this game. I'm not a UL backer thats claiming the ship is sunk... I can see an improved football team.. .but we need to get our act together with the stadium.

I couldn't have imagined what the bathroom line looked like.
I entered the stadium through gate D (the one by the flag pole) when they were playing the National Anthem there was NO line and I walked right through. It took me about five minutes to walk from the Moore Field gate to Gate D. I was in my seat (first row upper deck 50 yard line) before the kickoff. I can't understand why people would stand in line at the press box side gates when they could just walk right in the other two gates.

There was one rest room on the upper deck that had NO water in the lavatories. This is indeed pathetic and really makes me wonder who is in charge and what they are thinking. Imagine somebody with a young child that needed to be cleaned up or just an old fart like me that needed to wash up after cooking for three hours. The other mens rest room had water avilable at the lavatories. The sad thing about it all is that there appeared to be NOBODY THAT I COULD SEE from the University IN A POSITION OF AUTHORITY to make a complaint to about the situation. All of the University people are wearing street clothes like us and its hard to tell who is in charge. While I would have liked to point out the problem to somebody I just didn't know who. Does anybody know where there is an event management office/official etc. at the games?

I heard on the radio this afternoon that they quit selling tickets because it was a sell out. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? Sell an SRO ticket and put them in the end zone grass. That brings me to another point. ON GAME WEEKS WHY DOESN'T THE TICKET OFFICE OPEN LATE (LIKE 7:00 OR 8:00) TO MAKE IT EASY FOR PEOPLE THAT WORK TO BUY TICKETS. They could make more money if they sell more tickets and the way you do that is to make it easy to buy them.

There were many complaints about parking, my answer to the complainers is GET THERE EARLY AND YOU WON'T HAVE A PROBLEM. My other answer is BUY A SEASON TICKET AND YOU GET A PARKING PASS. If you can't do either one of those then the only thing you can do is park and walk. It's not like you can expect to just pull right up and find a parking spot an hour before the game. Go to any sporting event with lots of people and you can expect to do plenty of walking and waiting.

I don't think we will have any of the problems experienced last Saturday for the rest of the season.

A quick calculation for the remaining games is that we need to have about 9,000 or better to average 15,000 per game.

im gonna confess something, I went to the LSU game instead of UL this weekend. Dont get mad at me fellas, i had free tickets, and i had never been out there for a game, plus i figured i could scout the middle tennessee team. And I assumed we would blow out mcneese. But after saying all that from what i saw id have to think louisvilles defense is not necessarily bad, juts not as fast. MT did have some plays early that against a slower defense would have been great plays, just against that defense didnt produce much. So best of luck to you guys, i hope yall meet those bums from USC in the final game.

I think i was the only person in that whole stadium wearing a UL hat. and it was the most uncomfortable 4 quarters of seating ive ever spent. Not for me , ill take the comfort of laying in the grass or on the bleachers over that any day.

I think the Respect directive comes from higher than BT.... Back when I was marching it seemed that we couldn't change that "tradition", even if we all thought it was stupid. Director included.

Thats why I hope we can retire it with Doc.

I would have to say myself I was really excited for the cajun football team this year. New indoor facility, new coaching staff. Especially since your defensive coordinator is from my hometown. I know he is a good coach, and a new defensive scheme has got to be a difficult to install. But I am pretty dissapointed with what I have seen from the cajuns thus far. I figured after the SC game that you guys would roll though ohio and mcneese. I knew they had the ohio game and blew it. The Mcneese game was another story. I guess my main is since Mcnesse is a 1AA school, how long before the talk starts that UL should go to 1AA because they can't compete on 1A level? It's irrelevant because they won't do that, but I bet alot of people are thinking that. Ricky Bussell is now in his 6th year as coach and has only one good season to show for it. How much longer are you gonna give him before it's enough and time to move on? The fair weathered fans are calling for his head now, but is it too early? In my opinion, if they cajuns don't win 80% of the conference games, he needs to go. Now on to Middle Tenn. I wasn't impressed from what I saw. Either Louisville is really that bad, or Middle Tenn. just had a freakishly lucky game against them, because they couldn't do crap against LSU. Granted LSU's defense is sick, but they couldn't even move the ball after the first 3 series. Hopefully the cajuns can get on track and make a good run through conference play which starts with troy. Just pretend the first 3 games didn't happen, and concentrate on conference games and you never know what might happen. Good Luck.
Nice post Kracka. You have some good points.

You might be right. We do need to shake things up a bit. Even as a member, I think that we need to turn it up a notch, start bringing more to the game. Get more involved, like other college bands do.

I'll bring that up if I'm on the Band Council next season. There's not much I can do this year. (The bands kinda dead in the stands this year. I'm not in it. Coincidence? Yeah there is, I'm sorry. haha)

Take for example when I was in high school at Acadiana High. By the end of my tenure, we in the band actually gave the cheerleaders a run for their money. We were hooping and hollerin' , getting the students to get involed and gettin' them yell and cheering the team. I want the PoA to be like that. Interact with the cheerleaders and the students and other fans. Of course we have our limits because we are representing the University, but we can be doing a lot more than just sitting and watching the game. Maybe stuff like that would attract more people to be in it, and we can become a better band.

    Just my 2 cents.

    UL Football Saturday Knight Lights

    Hi there, Cajuns.

I know we've played eachother quite a few times, but we're honored to have you down in Orlando for our first season of football at on the UCF campus.

Our first ever real home game was this past Saturday against the #6 Texas Longhorns. It was a great atmosphere and a sellout crowd of over 45,000.

This week we have Memphis at home for our first ever conference game.

But on the 29th, we host you for our first ever NIGHT game! You guys are in the same boat as us - it's hot in the South and whenever there is an opportunity to play in the evening, the atmosphere is just ELECTRIC.

I've created a Facebook group that I welcome you to join if you are able to make the trip to the Brighthouse on the 29th. And if you can't, you should be able to reply "no" and still be able to join in for some hopefully good conversations about the game.

Ya'll looked great against South Carolina. Best of luck against Troy and we'll see you on the 29th!

  11. UL Football UL Opens Sun Belt Play Saturday

LOUISIANA - Ragin' Cajuns head football coach Rickey Bustle addressed the media Monday about his team's Sun Belt Conference opener against the Troy Trojans during his weekly press luncheon at the Cox Communications Athletic Center.

Last weekend, Louisiana (0-3) dropped a 38-17 decision to in-state rival McNeese State. Saturday's game was the first between the two schools since November 15, 1986. The overflow-crowd of 33,828 was the third-largest in Cajun Field history.

The Cajuns failed to score inside the McNeese State red zone on three separate occasions in the first half, and as a result, trailed 24-17 at the break. McNeese used a seven-play, 43-yard drive late in the third quarter to build a 31-17 lead with 2:10 remaining in the third stanza. The Cajuns offense sputtered in the third quarter, generating 54 total yards on 14 plays. The Cowboys then used a 12-yard touchdown run by Jamie Leonard with 5:47 remaining to seal the victory.

Louisiana had another disappointing second half, failing to score and totaling just 104 yards of total offense. The Cajuns have scored three points and totaled 408 yards of offense in the second half this season.

Leonard paced the Cowboys with 19 carries for 134 yards. Quarterback Derric Fourroux finished 11-of-19 passing for 139 yards one touchdown. Kris Bush ran for 83 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Tyrell Fenroy (LaPlace, La.) led the Cajuns with 82 yards rushing on 20 carries. Quarterback Michael Desormeaux (New Iberia, La.) was 11-of-24 passing for 162 yards. He added 46 yards rushing, but was hurt by four interceptions and a fumble lost.

Troy (1-2), the defending Sun Belt Conference and New Orleans Bowl champion, notched its first win of the season Friday night with a 41-23 winner over Oklahoma State. Omar Haugabook completed 33-of-48 passing for 371 yards in the win.

The Cajuns lead the all-time series 8-3, including a 7-2 mark in Lafayette. However, Troy has won three of the last four meetings. Last season, the Trojans handed the Cajuns a 42-28 loss in Troy.

Following the conclusion of its three-game homestand, Louisiana travels to Orland, Fla., to face the UCF Knights on Sept. 29. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. (CT).

  12. UL Football Bustle not worried about job

UL head football coach Rickey Bustle hasn't heard the radio shows and he doesn't visit the Internet chat rooms. But he knows that they haven't been good to his team since Saturday's 38-17 loss to Division I-AA McNeese State.

Bustle was asked at his Monday press conference about those outlets, including some talk-show calls calling for his dismissal.

"I don't respond to it," he said. "I know it's part of the business, but it's not a fun part. We've been through tough times, and we know everybody has answers and wants to point fingers. We're not going to do that. We have strong character on this team and they believe in each other.
