Is it true that Hundley is B I Moody's grandson ( the guy after whom the business school is named) ? A friend of mine who goes to LSU forwarded a link to a forum of theirs , where they were talking about this . If this is true ...wow! I wonder how this will affect the funding and stuff ...as he apparently has donated a lot of money to UL ...
He is B. I. Moody's grandson.
I have a feeling this won't affect the status of their contributions to the university.
I don't know if they are big benefactors of the athletic program, but wasn't Hundley going to UL somewhat of a suprise? I heard he was leaning towards LSU or Ole Miss and just assumed he went here because he felt he wouldn't get a chance at either school. If UL athletics was such a big deal to he and his family, he probably would have been more committed to the program. My guess is that he felt that he wasn't ever going to get a chance and decided it wasn't worth the effort to sit on the bench.
I'm just speculating, but I wouldn't worry.
That wasn't very nice.
It's not that we have the lungs of 2 year olds. It's the ratio of woodwinds to brass players. You really can't hear a woodwind instrument unless its in a concert hall or band room. Troy has waayyyy more brass players than it does woodwind players. If we had the same ratio in the PoA (Man I wish we did) we'd sound like them.
Either way, we can only do what our band director tells us. If you have a problem with it, don't bash us, talk to the director.
I hear ya Cajunbander... but it is time to retire RESPECT. I say pull it back out when we absolutely know we finally have it (respect, that is). Tell your friends in the band not to play it, and if your band director has a problem with it, contact your friends on RaginPagin. We may need to pay him a visit.
I support the band 100%, but I agree that Troy has the brass and UL is cut way too heavy with woodwinds. UL will not attract the ballsy brass that it takes to make adequate sound (DCI style) until UL selects the right type of tunes. There are arrangements of recognizable tunes that fans can get into to and musicians can take pride in performing. There is a thing called playing to the crowd and not to your band director friends that your director is obviously struggling with. I would not mind talking to him. I maintain outstanding tact until I confront overwhelming stupidity.
I absolutely concur that the band students do not select the songs or the drill on the field. I have very little patience for stupidy in my life or the things I choose to entertain myself with, so I will speak to your band director if he chooses to mix it up. Let him know and I will visit him with a couple of other select friends.
We do have an Alma Mater. I'm not in the band this year, I'm not really in contact with Brian Taylor. (I got suspended for bad grades)
Actually, for the basketball games, the last song we play is the Alma Mater.
Alma mater, beloved old Southwestern,
Pride of our Southland so fair!
Oaks and pines and sweet magnolia's beauty,
Show forth thy charms so rare,
Alma mater, for honor, truth and wisdom
Thy halls for aye shall stand
Loyal sons and daughters sing
Proclaiming here's my heart and hand.

Next year, when I get back in school I'm going to try to get on the band council, where I'll have some say in things. I'll try and bring that up. Become a link between fans and the PoA. I can't really say much, I know how things posted online get out, and I really like being in the band. (I never thought I'd actually miss band camp.)
