Maybe I'm taking some frustrations out on the band here and for that I'm sorry. But I'm sick of these mellow soothing half time shows. Come on man, play that stuff at your band competitions. Football is about blood, sweat, and tears (manly tears). Play some half time stuff with some "umph" behind it.

Wallace had/has an arm injury of some sort. and as for handing the ball to Wallace...that isn't what we need to do with Wallace. Use him in the slot and give him 5 yards space to work with. He is really good in that situation. But then again why use his ability to maybe win a game

McNeese played 3 TBs on Sat. night (Leonard, Bush and Pendland - m'b Jones, too, I don't recall).

Now the question - Did the Cajuns have no other RB available to play in that situation? _
I don't know about our tailback situation as far as depth is concerned, but I do agree that our best back should not have been in as the game was out of control and we were doing nothing to adjust to try and win.

it wouldn't hurt to get better stands tunes either. Just a thought

LOL!! Hey guys, no need to start tearing into the band! We lost a football game, thats all. Nothing more.

Respect had its day. Maybe its time to retire it.??

It is not easy to put a halftime show together. You cant do that in just one week.

It would be similar to changing offensive playbooks on Thursday afternoon.

The band does a great job.

Man, the Saints game yesterday looked like a replay of Saturday night. It has been SO tough to go through life as a Saints fan AND a Ragin' Cajun fan.

Now having said that, I started a thread earlier outiling my views of the current state of affairs in football here.... and my observations are that things are broken... broken bad.... We need a change.... Bustle has had 6 years (at the end of this one)... and I challenge anyone to tell me that we are where we should be after 6 years... Great facilities... a fan base that most Sun Belt schools envy... and the potential for a huge (by mid-level standards) fan base if someone could put some energy into this program.. the potential was there Saturday nite.... If we had put a butt-whippin on that 1-AA school you would have had a 25,000+ crowd and an electric atmosphere next Saturday against a school that gets it....

So I am calling for a change TODAY... I dont want to hear about $$$$... Buy out the contract... Make a statement that you are committed to building something in football and you will find some business people step up.. But the horse has to be in front of the cart... Too many of the old guard hangers on, bemoan our lack of support... But who is going to put money into a program that has no committment to winning?? Accepting what happened last saturday says you do not have that committment _
I agree about the money because if we are going to take football serious we have to make a serious commentment to it. If the time comes buy out his contract and do what Tech did and put the money out there to bring in a guy who can reenergize the fan base and fix what is broken.

Default 1AA, Middle Tenn, and Cajun Coaches...

Well yet another week has passed in what most around here would a dissapointing start to football season. Saints look like they are gonna be floating in the nearest port a pottie. And I am most sure that the usual early season bandwagon cajun fans are getting their duck blinds and dear stands ready for hunting season now. I would have to say myself I was really excited for the cajun football team this year. New indoor facility, new coaching staff. Especially since your defensive coordinator is from my hometown. I know he is a good coach, and a new defensive scheme has got to be a difficult to install. But I am pretty dissapointed with what I have seen from the cajuns thus far. I figured after the SC game that you guys would roll though ohio and mcneese. I knew they had the ohio game and blew it. The Mcneese game was another story. I guess my main is since Mcnesse is a 1AA school, how long before the talk starts that ULL should go to 1AA because they can't compete on 1A level? It's irrelevant because they won't do that, but I bet alot of people are thinking that. Ricky Bussell is now in his 6th year as coach and has only one good season to show for it. How much longer are you gonna give him before it's enough and time to move on? The fair weathered fans are calling for his head now, but is it too early? In my opinion, if they cajuns don't win 80% of the conference games, he needs to go. Now on to Middle Tenn. I wasn't impressed from what I saw. Either Louisville is really that bad, or Middle Tenn. just had a freakishly lucky game against them, because they couldn't do crap against LSU. Granted LSU's defense is sick, but they couldn't even move the ball after the first 3 series. Hopefully the cajuns can get on track and make a good run through conference play which starts with troy. Just pretend the first 3 games didn't happen, and concentrate on conference games and you never know what might happen. Good Luck.

Thanks, Kracka. Good post. Best of luck to the Tigers this year, although with that defense, it doesn't look like luck will have anything to do with it!

Kracka, no one is going to look good against LSU's defense. NO ONE.

Thanks for the well thought out post. Best of Luck.

UL Football My article for the Vermilion this week

Thought I might let you guys see it early so you can forget all this mess.

    Double Vision

Football season, it’s the best time of the year. As soon as it’s over you begin counting down the days to the start again. The thing is it’s never long enough; when you want it to be… When things aren’t going good, it can last forever. Football season is about finding out what you’re made of, but not just for the players; it’s also about finding out what kind of fan you are.

When things are running and gunning, everybody wants to be apart of the glory. Why not? But when things get rough, that’s when you find out who the real fans are. I’m sure you know what I’m getting at but think about it, two teams: The Cajuns and the Saints.

It’s not just about them going winless so far this season; it’s about the anticipation, the expectation and the results. Let’s face it… neither of them have had bountiful amounts of success in the past. They’ve had some great seasons here and there, but some poor ones as well. The difference is that these past few years, they have both been through some BIG changes. People have had good reason to cheer for the teams, such as last year. This year however, it’s a slow start.

I don’t know what the problem is, if I did I would probably be a coach, but from what I have seen my teams are just flat out playing some bad football. Nothing seems to be going right. One week they fall to a decent team, so I think “hey, no big deal they’ll get it together.” The next week they lose to an awful team and I think “man, this is no good.” So I go through the cycle all over again, bad night Saturday, bad day Sunday, oh boy it’s Monday. But by the time Tuesday rolls around I’m over it and ready for the next weekend.

Ok so I’m doing my part, when are the teams gonna do theirs? It’s time to step up and make some decisions; accept some challenges; refuse to lose. Are you going to just endure losing to high school teams or are you going to do something about it? Everybody saw it, heck there were 34,000 people there. Get over it and move on, but next time, do some things a little different. For instance, let’s score a touchdown in the second half of a football game. There is a reason there are four quarters. It’s time to stop playing Mr. Nice Guy and get some heads rolling.

I don’t care what it takes; this University needs to learn how to win. This Saints team needs to realize that it takes more than just showing up to a game to get a victory. Reggie Bush needs to stop spending all his time filming commercials and learn how to play in the NFL. These defenses need to step up to the challenge and lower some helmets. These teams need to play like one.

It’s time to get a real attitude about football, it’s more than just jumping up and down and getting pumped up cause you’re the pick to win, it’s being mentally ready and confident that whatever it takes you know you have the ability to win. Sure there might not be a lot of fans who don’t think you can do it; who cares, they’ll be back when it happens. That just shows how poor of fans they are.

Conference play starts for the Cajuns this Saturday against Troy, it’s not too late to make something happen, but it’s getting awful close. The choice is theirs. I’ll be there to see what they decide. Forget the people who won’t.
