That's it guys. I refuse to spend 3 hours every Saturday emotionally invested in a team that can't stay within 3 touchdowns of any team in 1-AA. At least Michigan did that much.

Sometimes... well WAY too often...
Being a UL fan is like paying to get punched in the nuts. Repeatedly.
This game is depressing for so many reasons .You have to wonder what kind of effect this will have on merchandising and attendance ....I dunno how we can recover from this . there is just no excuse ....ul monroe last year , mcnese now ...we have to be the worst college team in Louisiana right now .
Well, for the first time in history, I couldn't take the pain anymore and turned off the internet feed at 38-17. I just saw the final go by on the ESPN ticker, so I'm pleased that the bleeding stopped there. I could drink kool-aid until I puke and still reach the following conclusions:
The Cowboys came to win and left no doubt. There should be no excuses about turnovers etc. The Cowboys made just as many mistakes and still managed to blow out the Cajuns in the second half. NO ifs. NO buts. The Cowboys are better. If we played again on Sunday, I think we would have the same result. Again, there should be no carrying on about how the Cajuns are still better. The Cajuns didn't lose by a touchdown on some fluke play. The Cajuns were not on the road.
The Cajuns defense can't stop anyone or anything, and that carries over from last year.
The play calling on defense is very conservative. A lot of 4 man rush. I even saw some 3 man rush when we had them in 3rd and long, which they converted most of the time with all day to throw the ball. We didn't see more than 4 with any regularity until late in the 4th, when McNeese was content to run the ball. Of course the obvious result was the HB breaking containment with no one to stop him for 25 yards. Before some starts hammering me on this issue, remember that the coaches promised an aggressive defense in the spring. I haven't seen it yet.
The Cowboys demonstrated early on that they have a Phd in stopping the traditional option, yet the Cajuns continued to try to run it. It seemed to be a drive killer every time. The spread option plays gave the Cowboys a lot more trouble.
For the second week in a row, the Cajuns looked like a team that didn't have the physical conditioning to play strong in the second half.
I know that we have a lot of new coaches. I think they should get the benefit of the doubt, but it is going to be a long season.
Troy will absolutely shread the Cajuns next week before a raucous crowd of about 8,000. In case you didn't notice, they embarrassed Oklahoma St today. Meanwhile, FAU beat Minnesota on the road.
Cowboys fans should enjoy this win but not hang their hat on it. The Cajuns are just not that good. The Cowboys will probably face thougher tests in their road conference games.
Having said all that and added a little spike to my kool-aid, things could turn around and be very different the rest of the way after a loss like this, but not without a change in philosophy on defense.
sorry about my comment on another thread. I thought it ended at 31-17 and was bragging on my close prediction of McNeese beating ole SLI 28-17. Guess I quit paying attention to the score too soon.
Fans shouldn't be disheartened. I've been watching the Bulldogs/Cajuns whatever, for 52 years and except for a couple of decent seasons with Faulkinbury in the 60's, one good one with Tammareillo, and a couple with Stokely, this school has always had a pretty sad football team. We need to drop down in classification and play on a level that we can be competitive as Div. I is out of our reach no matter what any of you say. Beating one freaking team(A & M) that meant anything does not a program make.
the thing that bugs me the most is those f'in snobs who felt we shouldn't waste our time playing mcneese because they are a 1-aa school. I've been here since '97 and tonight was the biggest crowd I have ever seen. And they blow it.
We should not be 1-a
