And I'm sure that's why App State had discussions over the summer with the Sun Belt Commish about joining.

I for one like the fact that we are playing McNeese again, My parents who are die hard cajuns fans, and are awesome parents, are looking foward to this game. My dad had not missed a UL home game in I don't know how long! I can say that it has been so long since my parents were truly excited about an upcomming game. Making anti-McNeese stuff and I am just as excited.
Yesterday I was in Lake Charles, with my UL License plate shining. Someone from UL had purchased some advertising with LAMAR, yeah its all over LC. "Its been 21 years, see you in Lafayette" We have to look at the big picture here, this will rank in the top 5 as far as attendance goes. This means more money for the UL Program. Which, will help us in the future. Regardless on the fact that McNeese isnt considered a rival because of a division 2 program I promise you that they will be ready to play. UL better learn real quick to nail the coffin shut. The last thing that we need is a loss to them. This would kill attendance and support for the cajuns in the stadium. That is the LAST thing we need. I know Bustle and company will be ready to play...Geaux Cajuns
For those who wish to know! A ton of RV's are already at the stadium!!!! Rock on!
We also thank you for playing 1-AA schools. It is going to be a nice pay day for both of our schools. For the record, no other 1-A schools in this state want to play McNeese. So thanks!
But, What is your record against 1-A schools since you decided to stay 1-A in 1981? Or, easier, what is your overall record since you have been in 1-A? Now, mind you Damon, this is not a criticism of UL's decision to stay 1-A because that was a bold move on UL's part but just a conversational piece for comparison.
A poster on the geauxcowboys.com board mentioned that since UL stayed in 1-A football in 1981, there overall record has been 112-173-3 for a .364 winning percentage.
That makes the average yearly record in 1-A at 4-7 and "losing" games on average 20-27. Ouch! !!
The number I gave is going to be pretty close to McNeese's pay out which includes sharing half the revenue on the 5000 tickets with UL. Anything we sell over 5000 goes in total to UL.
I have no issue with you, sir. Your posts as a "visitor" here have been pleasant. No doubt we've had our troubles in 1A. I was posting a rebuttal to your hapless fan-mate. He gave a haphazard swipe at the school, so I offered a retort.
I do wish we (fans of both teams) could move beyond the game, as I'm sick of hearing about "the past", which is 20 years ago. I'm sick of hearing about the Sunbelt being 1AA, which is why I offered up the recent 4 year record of McNeese vs. 1A. I'm showing that the Sunbelt's ability to play and win at 1A puts them above the 1AA+ status he wants to pin on us.
There's no doubt both teams have had their successes and setbacks lately, but these wild generalizations about BOTH schools are just tiresome.
Trust me, I know what it feels like as a fan to try and travel east and beat up your big brother. I also know the difference between being a fan and being an absolutely blind homer.
Well said and true. This is a big game because its the next game. Its a big game because we are 0-2, and its a big game because we are playing our neighbors to the west, fellow louisianians all (well most, but Texas is a whole 'nuther country so we count them as international students). Its good for us and them financially and, well, it will be an absolute hoot to be there for tailgaiting and the game. The Pokes know how to support their team and they will be here "en masse". We will be raining red as well, you can bet your last dime on that. Having said that, I will add that this game would be huge to lose but just so-so to win for the overall prospects of our team, in context of the SBC and our season. I'll bet that's how State feels when we or any other 1A in-state school plays in BR.
I have to admit, I remember the old days and the old rivalry, and I am sorry to say to some small extent, but I am fired up for this one... so let's deliver a ton of slobber-knockers, put this one in the "W" column and get ready for the SBC!!!
Geaux Rouge, Geaux Blanc!!!!!!
Randy Roach hopes that Joey Durel will be wearing blue and gold after the game
Sept. 14, 2007
City of Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach and Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel have made a friendly wager on the outcome of Saturday night's football game between the McNeese State Cowboys and the UL-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns.
Roach, a long-standing supporter of McNeese State and member of the Cowboy Club, will wear a Ragin Cajun football jersey on Lake Charles television should the Cajuns prevail, and Durel, a graduate of UL-Lafayette, will wear a McNeese State football jersey on Lafayette television should McNeese win.
"I can't wait to see Joey Durel in the McNeese blue and gold," said Roach. "Joey just might be surprised how really good he will look in that Cowboy jersey. I'm bringing mine with me to give to Joey at the game."
"I'm sure Randy Roach will look very good in red and white Monday morning," said Durel. "In fact, he may find he really likes the red and white. If I were Randy, I wouldn't expend too much effort trying to find a Cowboy jersey for me, because it won't be necessary."
Southwest Louisiana college football bragging rights are in the balance. Stay tuned!
Well at least I can cheer for a winning program. I would hate to keep wasting my Saturday night watching my team get a beatdown.Maybe to save you guys from further embarrasment you should go back to 1AA and maybe you could compete....humm then again maybe not. Lafayette Sports column this Sunday will read ULL loses to a 2nd rate football team and are now 0-3.
