    Cajuns - 4 TDs = 28
    Cowboys - 3TDs + 3 FGs = 30

The final Cowboy FG will occur as time expires after a Cajun turnover.

Then again, I could be totally wrong. ( :

  5. UL Football Area coaches enjoying UL-McNeese State week

High school coaches are no doubt focused primarily on the job at hand Thursday or Friday night.

There are many coaches, however, with an eye on a game taking place Saturday at Cajun Field between McNeese State and the UL Ragin' Cajuns.

With Lake Charles only 70 miles from Lafayette, most coaching staffs in this area have at least one representative of one or both schools.

Few, though, are looking more forward to Saturday's 6 p.m. meeting than at Comeaux High. Assistant coach Ronald Gunner played on the offensive line at UL from 1992-94. Comeaux basketball coach Rob Melanson graduated at McNeese in 1992 out of Lacassine.

"It's tremendous that they're playing again,'' Melanson said. "I've been waiting for this game for a long time. I was a senior in high school the last time they played. They've played in basketball, baseball and some other sports over the years, but this is different. This is bragging rights.''

  6. UL Football What 'A' matchup

UL's football team returned to the practice field Tuesday, opening preparations for Saturday's McNeese State contest with a full-gear practice.

"Our guys have looked at the film and they know that McNeese has a heck of a team," said Cajun coach Rickey Bustle. "They don't look like they make many mistakes, and that can turn any game."

Mistakes didn't help the Ragin' Cajuns much in last Saturday's 31-23 loss to Ohio in their home opener, and correcting those mistakes took up much of the practice time on Sunday and Tuesday. The squad also began working against scout-team competition on Tuesday.

"We pretty much approach every game the same in our practices," Bustle said. "That's what we try to convince our players to do. We respect everybody we play, and you better bring your 'A' game because the team that does that is the team that's going to win."

I am also glad that Dan has the "freedom of the press" because that is something dissenting posters don't always get the privilege of on your message boards.[/FONT]

There's a whole lot more going on in that article than just a "football game".

What's this giant inferiority complex Lake Charles people have with Lafayette?

  9. Default Re: Opponent View: A rivalry that never died gets revival Saturday

What is the inferiority complex with Lafayette and Baton Rouge?? Now that's a question. I graduated from McNeese State and now live in Lafayette, and no I didn't move to Lafayette to work. I work in Baton Rouge. I don't understand how University of Louisiana does not want to recognize this as a rivalry. There is a past that does exist between the Pokes and Peppers. It’s just another way Lafayette and University of Louisiana is trying to act better than Lake Charles and McNeese. I know it doesn't make a difference on either team’s season, but at least it will be fun. I thought Lafayette thought they were the best place to party. Well, McNeese is coming for a party. I hope Lafayette indulges us with a party atmosphere. I know myself and my best friend, Louisiana Là alum, will be having a hell of a time tailgating together. We did not get to experience this before, but we have been talking about it since he choose UL and I choose MSU to attend. Let the good times roll....

WOW!! I did post preview and realize that it changes the name of your university to something it is not. That's pretty impressive. I am speechless. I think y'all need to chill out with that.

Why would anyone feel inferior to Baton Rouge? All the rednecks, refineries, plants, no culture. Actually, I can see why you don't live in BR and moved from Lake Charles to live in Lafayette.

  11. Default Re: Opponent View: A rivalry that never died gets revival Saturday

I was asking you why you feel that way about BR? I have not problem with BR. I just rather live closer to my home town and to Lake Charles. I'm sure their are only the best people living in Lafayette. No one getting their hands dirty to provide for their families. What are the cajuns??? Aren't they the people that England didn't want and eventually made it down to Louisiana where they worked hard for everything they got? That's okay, everyone has an opinion. I am just happy to know that McNeese State is coming to play a football Saturday, and that I can already smell the jambalaya cooking...
