  1. UL Football Ragin' Cajuns adapt to "off days" schedule

LOUISIANA - UL's football team apparently adapted well to its practice routine change.

With the university having two days off from classes Monday and today with fall break, the Cajuns held their normal Sunday night practice on Monday evening with a 90-minute session.

"We've had good practices the last couple of weeks," said senior safety Lamar Morgan. "We had a great week of practice last week, the best we've had since I've been here."

Monday's non-contact session was the first since UL's 37-19 road loss at Central Florida Saturday, one that dropped the Cajuns to 0-5 heading into this week's Sun Belt Conference home contest against likewise winless (0-4) North Texas.

  2. UL Football UL football at a "critical game" crossroads

LOUISIANA - In each of the last four seasons, UL's football team reached a mid-season crossroads ... a point at which a choice was made.

All four times, it was a blind intersection. One choice led to the Cajuns' desired destination, and the other went over a cliff.

Without the benefit of maps or GPS monitors, the Cajun program broke even in its crossroads choices. Twice, in 2003 and 2005, the right road led to late-season success. The other two times, in 2004 and 2006, the road led to a crash-and-burn.

In each of those four seasons, it was one pivotal game that turned things around and pointed the way toward success, or made moot any positives created early in the season. Each time, UL had no idea going into that game that things were about to turn for the better ... or worse.

This Saturday, there's no such ambiguity.

  3. UL Football Next Opponent: UNT's Dodge not worried about impact of slow start

DENTON – UNT coach Todd Dodge said that he is not worried about the impact the Mean Green's slow start could have on the enthusiasm shown by the team's fan base since he was hired in December.

"I don't worry about that at all," Dodge said. "All I can control is our football team, and we are still together."

UNT (0-4) will face Sun Belt rival Louisiana-Lafayette (0-5) on the road Saturday.

UNT ranks last among the 119 teams in the NCAA's Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) in both total defense and scoring defense. UNT is allowing 580.3 yards and 55 points per game.

I fully expect to see their best effort to date at Cajun Field this Saturday because they know they have a chance at a win here.

We need a no BS effort this week - no holding, no procedure calls, no centering the ball over the QB's head, no breakdowns in the O-line, TD production in the red zone and so on and so on.

On D we've got to figure out how to put some pressure on their QB.

    Default Don't Give Up

    1994

1)We were 1-3 and had already lost to a 1-AA school by 19 points.

2)Later in the year we also got our tails kicked by Southern Miss and Texas Tech. Sound familiar?

    2007

1)We are 0-4 and have already lost to a better 1-AA school by 21 points.

2)Later in the year we also got our tails kicked by a better CUSA team in Central Florida and probably Tennessee as well.

That 1994 team still went on to win a conference championship and have a winning record. I'm not saying that we will do the same. I am saying that it is still too early to give up on this team.

Coach Bustle is correct. There a lot of talented young players on this team. There is still time to turn this thing around and have success.

This is the most crucial part of this season and maybe Coach's tenure here. They need us.

Please don't give up on the Cajuns yet. Come out this Saturday, and let's start the turnaround now.

Saturday will mark the time when we will all look back and say THIS was the game when it happenned.

    This is it.

This is so COOL Re: Don't Give Up

You are absolutely right, Cajun Nation. This can be the beginning of the turn around. If the talent on this team begins to fire on all four and shine, we can hang with anyone else on our schedule from our conference. Keep the faith and support the team!!! The jury is still out on this season...let's not judge these coaches, this team or this season until the season plays out.

I'll see you at the SWAMP!!!

There are a lot of teams that don't throw to the TE or don't run the QB at all. then some temas throw to the TE all day long and run the ball with the QB all day long, why does it matter. If we were 5-0 no one would be saying a damn thing about who is running with the ball or who is catching the ball. It's all about winning!!!! I am personally sick of losing when I see a team that has the potential to do very well in this conference. I understand this team is young but come on no more excuses this is Bustles 6th year, he has had time to get the guys in here to do things. He could have gotten JUCO talent to fill holes till a young guy was ready to take over...I do like Bustle and what he has done but come on guys the excuses we have all been using for the last 2 years aren't good anymore because this is his team. _
I mention Des Mo's accomplishments because people keep making comments about how much trouble we are in because our leading rusher is the QB and that Des Mo is not a QB. I'm tired of hearing the wining and moaning about a young man who is playing extremely well as the QB. I'm sick of losing, too....but I'm more sick of the wining and boohooing over the fact that we are 0-5 and not 5-0. Get over it!!! As frustrating as it is to see young talent not reaching it's full potential thus far, there are greater travesties in life....unless of course this is all you have in life...in which case I tell you to get a life.
