Unfortunately Turbine, a lot of uncertainties there. I guess what I am concerned about is can we affort to wait and see what the outcomes will be. I guess in a way we have no choice, but we are a critical juncture in the program. If things work out, great, but if we wait until 2010 and things are no better, do we start from scratch all over again?

I certainly don't have the answers, so I guess we just wait and see and hope for the best.

This is just totally unacceptable and how ANYONE can justify it after 6 years just boggles my mind.... It has NOTHING to do with circling the wagons or being a good fan or anything like that... those are facts... cold hard facts.... 6 years ago we were the worst program in the country... in 6 years we have moved 6 spots?? comeon................

No one will ever call you an idiot. You're passionate. We all are.

I'd love nothing more than in 2 years be sharing a beer with IHateLAState, and laughing about how far we've come since the 2007 season!!!

I'll be at the game, though not sure if I'll be able to make it to the liquor store before i leave town. If I don't make it by Saturday, I'll definitely bring some for the HC game.

*Robe has done well with fundraising, and the 50/50 is a cash cow.
*baseball isn't on the minds of many folks, even at large universities, as football is becasue of the coverage that football gets. everyone knows who won the NC in football last year, nobody can remember who won the world series.
*Even when the team had that really bad stretch in the first half of that season a few years ago, attendance was still pretty high, and maybe dropped only 50% _

Robe also has the benefit of supplementing his budget with beer sales.

I for one would love the opportunity to supplement our football program's budget by doing nothing more than enjoying more than my fair share of beer.

I told you before - no cash required. Now, if I bring you a nice bottle of wine some day we can renegotiate!

Scarecrow? Might have been the "Dogtoberfest". I've got a couple different ones coming this time; but definitely good stuff. Need to keep you guessing!

    True nothing but uncertainties . . .

  11. Bustle's first foray into UL recruiting all he could offer was imagination and 8 UL wins over the span of that athletes high school career.

  12. 2nd year imagination limited and 9 UL wins over the span of the athletes high school career.

  13. 3rd year imagination gone and 11 UL wins over the span of that recruits high school career.

  14. 4th year and 14 UL wins over the span of that athletes high school career.

  15. 5th year 17 UL wins over the span of that athletes high school career.

  16. This last (2007) UL recriuting class witnessed UL averaging 5 wins (20 tot) over their high school career.

Point being Bustle's team was co-champs from a class he had nothing tangible to offer except 8 wins over 4 years by his predecessors. What will he be able to do when these latest guys mature? A LOT!

I don't look at the 6-6 record of last year as a step back, but we have to remember, this years team is the team that signed with UL after 8 straight losing seasons. Mark my words this team will go down as winners in the end.

ps even though I say "mark my words" it's jmo

I did not agree with no rewards after the McNeese game. I thought Burkhalter, Zanders, and Fleming had great games on Defense while Derrick Smith had a good receiving day and Wallace showed up for the return team. Turnovers lost that game.

Then again the didn't ask me so . . .

ps If it is any consolation they did not give a defensive player award this week so I guess you still got part of your wish. _
Thanks to all for your opinions, I am just a different breed i suppose. My opinion is my opinion. I feel like there could be other ways to reconize players for their efforts. Maybe stickers for great plays, sacks, touchdown, game changing plays, INT....etc etc. Ohio State , Georgia, Florida State...etc etc do this. If you want to reward someone do it for all. Point out good things for everyone, not just one player a week. Sunbelt has weekly awards for as well.

The more stickers, the more plays that player has made for the TEAM.

MissingMandy, I know you have some beef with my opinion and that is ok, because you have yours. I feel if Ross Goodlett is such a good athlete, put him on the field and let him make plays. Steve Spurrier once said "if one guy doesnt work, put in his back up. If he doesnt work, put the other guy back in.

We should all expect the best every down and every play. That is where I was going with that. If we dont demand and expect the best, we wont get the best out of the players.
