UCF Coach George O'Leary won't treat it any differently in the preparation department, but on paper at least this week's home matchup with Louisiana-Lafayette seems heavily skewed in the Knights' favor. Lafayette (0-4) is coming off a three-game home stretch but has yet to post its first win of the season. The Ragin' Cajuns also rank in the bottom third of the 120 Bowl Subdivision programs in both scoring offense (93rd) and scoring defense (104th). And although the Knights' 56-20 win over Memphis has seen their national offensive and defensive ranks jump to 20th and 65th, respectively, O'Leary said his team is showing a focus this year that won't allow it to overlook any opponent. Something to the effect of IF we play like we did last Saturday, we can COMPETE with anyone left on our schedule....

OH boy, we as fans can hope against hope that IF we play our very very best we wont get friggin blown out..... PEOPLE THIS IS OUTRAGIOUS AND UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's quit squabbling over non-issues and start figuring out how to win some football games.

LSU never did anything original.

'Never' would be hard to say... but State and UL appear to be reflections of BR and Lafayette. Lafayette is very progressive, BR is going nowhere. I challenge the Corndogs all the time to tell me about anything original to come out of State in the past few decades, they really can't respond.

We, on the other hand, are originating stuff all the time... and the Tiagras steal it.

Computer Science? UL was one of the very earliest pioneers, with one of the earliest graduate programs in the world. State rapidly duplicated it; their super-computing and grid computing programs are designed specifically to outflank UL in computer science.

Research Park? UL built ours without state money, pulled in federal tenants. State went out, got money from the Leg to build one... and then filled it full of research centers from Louisiana agencies.

University Museum? We built ours over years, finally got a donor to build a dedicated building. When we did, State went to the Leg, got a building donated.

Rhetoric? UL worked hard to add that to our English PhD. After we had, State simply claimed they had the same thing, without any planning or work, and without any approval.

Francophone Studies? UL built the first PhD program in the Western Hemisphere, 3rd in the world. State now claims THEY are the center for Francophone studies in the US, which is a joke. They don't even teach French in the French Department (look at the dissertations on-line, they're all in English except for those written by native French speakers)... so they certainly don't teach la francophonie.

UL brought big-time basketball to Louisiana... State suddenly invested big bucks in the sport.

UNO was the first Louisiana school to go to the CWS... State went out and bought a baseball team.

Tech won a NC in women's basketball... Corndog State had to have a better team.

UL built one of the early powerhouses in Softball... Long & Sherman U hired away our coach.

As for Geaux... we were using that in the 1970's. In those days, State looked down their pimply noses on the Cajun community as trash culture. It wasn't until the 90's, when K-Paul, and Cajun & Zydeco music took off that State started using "Geaux", and also started telling the world that THEY were the Cajuns.

As for The Swamp, the UF & UL media guides confirm the dates: UF started using 'The Swamp' at least 3 years after we did. UF has trademarked it, but it was a moot action and a waste of money. They can't possibly defend the trademark in court.

Cajun Field was constructed in time for USL’s 1971 football season, and had always been known as just that prior to the 1988 campaign…

I heard that before the Troy game Bustle stated that "the McNeese game is past us, I didn't even look at the film".

Can anyone verify that he said that? I find that hard to believe but if he did, it sure makes me wonder what kind of coach would not review the previous game's film to grade his team and review good and bad things about the game.

I think the person who told me that was wrong. Sure hope so.
