Jake averaged 15.0 ppg. He shot 30% from 3-point land, and he was an 80% shooter from the FT line last season... His college coach said "Jake is a very good basketball player. He is exciting to watch play. He will be a good fit with the Cajun basketball team".

The Cajuns recruited Jake early. MGCJC coach told me the Cajuns did an outstanding job recruiting Jake and that's why they got him.

The Cajuns still have several players to sign.

Does this young man come with any props from the JC ranks, regionally, nationally, etc? Is he projected to be an impact player, a backup, starter, or what? Is there anywhere online that more info on his is located?

"80% shooter from the FT line last season"

I love the signing we have had so far. Two big wing players, a point guard and a big man are on my wish list but will see what happens. I usually wouldn't like all the JUCO signing because high schoolers will be around longer but we need to replace some key starters so I guess I'll suck it up

    We got Cameron back buddy!

I know, you mean for a long term purpose! Anyway, is this cat that we just signed eligible for next year? If so, someone please do tell, what is his expected impact, like what Daddy-o was asking?

Oh, and anyone know about those 3 PGs we were after, did we sign one yet?

    Ryan who?

Yea we did get Cameron and that makes clutch happy
One of the point guards we are after is an Australian. That is the most I have heard. And everything on Fields is what I have read on here and the delphi boards.

Why wouldn't Fields be eligible. He is a junior college transfer

I for one think we should hang an Australian flag in the dome. Especially if we get the new guy.

  10. Default Ragin' Cajuns sign new offensive weapon

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns continued reloading for the 2005-06 men's basketball season with this week's signing of 6-foot-8 junior college wingman J.T. Fields of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

The 200-pounder averaged 16 points, six rebounds and four assists per game last season, leading his team to a 15-11 regular season and a berth in the state's junior college playoffs.

He chose UL over Alabama-Birmingham and future Sun Belt Conference basketball foe Troy.

"J.T. is a tremendous offensive player," Cajun coach Robert Lee said. "He's someone who hit 39 percent of his 3-point attempts last year and can shoot the ball from the perimeter.

"He's extremely athletic and handles the ball extremely well. He can also help us on the defensive end. He's a tremendous addition for us, a pretty good piece to the puzzle."

Fields, who will be in school for the fall semester and will have two years of eligibility remaining, starred at Hanceville High School in Alabama.

He was the Class 3A State Player of the Year as a junior and was an all-state performer who averaged 24 points and 12 rebounds per game in his prep career.

"J.T. is a very, very talented player who can do a lot of things," MGCCC assistant coach Brad Bunch said. "He's really good in transition and is good in an up-tempo game. He's a tremendous 3-point shooter.

"He's very exciting, and in my opinion makes a good fit with the Louisiana-Lafayette program because they like to play with athletic players. Coach (Rennie) Bailey did a fantastic job of recruiting J.T. throughout the year, and I'm really impressed with their coaching staff."
