Look out, Alana Addison and Middle Tennessee.

Danyele Gomez is on the kind of tear that could make her the career home run leader for Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns before the 2005 softball season is over.

Gomez blasted three circuit shots on Sunday, powering the No. 14 Cajuns to a 5-3, 5-0 doubleheader sweep at Western Kentucky to clinch a fifth straight Sun Belt Conference regular-season title.

The most recent barrage gave Gomez 50 homers in her UL career, closing in on school leader Alana Addison's 57. She'll take aim at Middle Tennessee pitchers when the Cajuns finish their regular season with four games at home next weekend.

"She's just incredible," UL co-head coach Michael Lotief said of Gomez, who went 7-for-16 with four homers and 11 RBIs as the Cajuns won three of four on the weekend.

"She hit some balls that were just incredible. She hit some bombs, some monster jams. On one, the whole place just stopped and there was dead silence. Then everybody just said, 'Wow.' The last one she hit never got more than 15 feet off the ground and it must have gone 250 feet.

"They tried to pitch her every way they could think of today, and she still got them. She's phenomenal. She's very smart, and extremely competitive."
