ISU, USC and New Orleans not to mention Idaho are not exactly the UCLA's and UNC's of the world and to make those programs what they became from where they started tells the true story of his abilities. I'm not concerned with his rhetoric or what he does to lure recruits to his school ( As long as its legal and within Guidelines) because we truly have no idea what was told or promised to Ryan Francis or any past player he's recruited. However, we know that those programs were better off with him there than they were prior to his arrival and a program like ours needs a shot in the arm and someone to return us to a winning level.

BTW, I've seen more posts in regards to people's dislike for the potential hire of Floyd today alone than the previous weeks after his name was mentioned as a frontrunner for the job. How easily and quickly people are willing to proclaim their prognostication skills after the event has occurred. I've seen posts with people saying they'd prefer someone over Floyd but none that stated Floyd would not be a quality candidate. _

Using your own logic, Tim Floyd would be here for a few years, than leave and go somewhere else, making this job 'more attractive' and he'll leave it 'better than he found it'.. right?

Hows uh... Hows USC basketball doing these days?

They had a winning season with a young team that lost all of its premier players that Floyd brought in and for which many or all went on the NBA. Floyd has also insisted that his departure was not for greener pastures as you'd like to think but rather, a difference in philosophy and resources given to him by the AD (Something many here could sympathize with right?). He didn't leave because he wanted to, or at least those are his statements and until you talk to him and get a different picture, I'll take him for his word there.

Another thing, I am not a Floyd lover or a "Big Name" fan. As a matter of fact, I doubted early on that the university would go after a guy who came with some perceived "baggage" given their aversion to risk taking on coaches and his lack of clearance by the NCAA. However, I do feel that he and Kennedy were the two guys who could turn this program around the quickest given their track records and until proven wrong by the NCAA, would believe that he's done nothing wrong or unethical.

Understood, and I noticed that after my post but it really had no bearing on the fact that he's succeeded where he has gone. I'm not saying that people have to like him as a candidate because there are perceived risks in his hire or they might like other candidates more but its hard to argue with his success at the mid-major level.

Many of all players went to the NBA? Name them please. Also, it wouldn't matter how good of a season they had, or how good their players were.. because they can not compete in postseason play..

Just wondering "out loud". Our fanbase gets all excited (large percentage - - not everyone..OK) to hear that we "interviewed" Tim Floyd. If indeed that interview was him "pimping" one of his guys, why didn't our folks (media who may have known....didn't Jay initially report that we'd "interviewed" Floyd, or even our administration) come right out and say he was NOT an actual candidate; if in fact that was true from the beginning. I mean if he N-E-V-E-R was a candidate, why let this myth perpetuate?

Can't compete in postseason play but yet Floyd is expected to be cleared...humm. Also, the school can impose sanctions before the NCAA and separate from the NCAA. That's beyond the point.

To answer your question about the players:

Demar Derozan, O.J. Mayo, Nick Young, Gabe Pruitt, Taj Gibson, Lodrick Stewart, Dwight Lewis, Daniel Hackett, Davon Jefferson, Terrance Kinsey and N'daiye. Many of these guys are playing professionally overseas while the rest are in the league.

Also, they had two players chosen in the first round for the first time in school history and are the only school to have one player selected in the top 16 of the last 3 NBA drafts.

Because our committee that was established to start looking for candidates had targeting Floyd and he had proclaimed interest then. Nobody knew of this lack of interest or "pimping" of friends up to that point nor did they know it at the time I presume. I think it was put together when he started using the same dialogue and operating the same with other schools. Also, it was noted that he contacted the university about his interest in the position.

All of these players are on this years team? Because this is obviously the first team that USC has put on the court SINCE Tim Floyd..

Me. At first glance I may seem like a Brad Boyd type candidate, but don't forget I won a 9-10 playground championship this year. I also bait Floyd's hook when we fish!

I agree and it seems to me Carr and Associates has egg on their face.

It is their job to weed out situations that might put your school in a bad light and that includes never being allowedto offer a job unless you know the answer is yes.

My guess is he's doing the same thing at UH and UTEP right now. _
I think Floyd will be back with the Hornets next year. I think Shinn will just retain Bower and Floyd because he has them on cheap contracts already. The team will play next year (2010/2011), then in the off season Shinn will fire Bower. The league will be locked out in Fall 2011 and not having a GM and a coach under contract being paid while the team is not playing would save some significant money. Once it looks like the lockout is almost over, the team will hire a GM, the GM will hire a coach and they will go from there.

By the end of the 2010/2011 NBA season Floyd will be done with the NCAA and he will probably be back coaching in college somewhere after that.

In the Houston Chronicle article stating that Marlin will be our coach, it was written that someone close to the UTEP situation has said it is a done deal for Floyd to be the Miners coach. That would make sense as he started his career as an assistant there under Don Haskins.
