    My Own Comparison Of 2000vs2005

Starting Pitchers: Adv 2000//dohmann,gros,gabriel,templet,webb We Had Five Potent Starters//only Two On 2005 Team

Relief Pitchers: Adv 2000//welborne,bullinger,obrien They Were Lights Out//just More Depth Than 2005 Sham Is Feast Or Faming

1st Base: Adv 2005//hawke And Tafford Way Better Than Poche And Atwood//they Are More Consitent

2nd Base: Tie 2000 Had Gill And Simoneaux Both Of Them Drafted Although Gill Was Drafted As A Pitcher, Gill Played A Variety Of Position So Really Hard To Judge, Dino Is Scrappy And A Real Team Leader

Shortstop: Adv 2005 Haydel Was Clutch But Also Inconsintent, 2005 Cockrell And Parker Provide More Depth

3rd Base: Tie Nelson Had Better Avg And Speed, But Moriss More Power And Better Defense

Catcher: Adv 2005 Massiatte Was The Best Ever Both Off And Def Wise, But 2005 Is Solid Lucroy Will Be Special, Morgan Is The True Team Player And Has Been A Good Surprise His Def Skills Are Off The Chart, Adam As Played Well At Times. 2oo5 Way More Depth, 2000 On Danny And Justin Boyd Who Didnt Even Play

Left Field: Adv 2005 Landry Is Better Than Hawkins And Really Is Solid All Across The Board

Center Field: Slight Adv 2000 Feehan Played Four Years While Coker Only Two Coker Srugeled Last Year But Has Played Well This Year And Could Be The Fastest Cajun Every

Right Field: Adv 2005 Mcarthy Has Been The Best Surprise This Year, Clark Was More Of A Power Guy And If The Umpires Would Have Got The Call Right Clark Didnt Trap The Ball Against Stanford We Would Have Been National Champs In 2000 Whe Would Have Been Unstoppable Had Phil Devey And Jeff Robinson Came Back For There Sr Years

You know, i think a lot of you are forgetting that the 3-5 pitchers in 2000 struggled throughout the season and hit a groove going into the post season. I dont find there to be a huge seperation in these two pitching staffs.

And for an overall 1-2, I think Ardoin and Faught are better and more consistent. Again, for an overall 1-2 point, not from individual standpoint.

I think that the two teams are mirror images of eachother. There is probably more speed on the basepaths this year than in 2000, however that is what sticks out in my mind the most about the 2000 club. They were more aggressive than any baseball team I have ever witnessed. DO NOT WALK anyone from the 2000 team, because they ran and ran hard. Personally I think we could have 3 less losses this year if we ran the bases more aggressively like they did in 2000. This team has the CHANCE to be a world series contender again. It all will depend on how they put it together in the post season. Remember, the most talented teams dont always pull through, but the players and coaches who want it most will find a way to win. This years team has shown that killer instinct, and I believe they could be very special this post season.

Besides some of the differences between the clubs that I will not get into, one big delta is that the 2000 team had the experience of winning a regional and being one win short of the CWS in a super-regional.

Great question... one that we have been discussing a lot as of lately.. I pretty much am in agreement with the position by position evaluations... Heck I'm just not that smart to be able to judge on that basis... My take on the overall question comes down to attitude.. someone talked about the "swagger" of the 2000 team... Those guys walked out on the field and the message was sent..."We are going to beat you... and there is not a whole lot you can do about it"... That swagger allowed them to go into the #1 team in the country's home field.. a place comparable to **gag** the "box"... and win... that quality remains to be seen this year.. I think this team hits better and pitches better.... I just think 2000 willed themselves to Omaha.... 2005 is close... real close....

I disagree this years team hits better as far as average, but the 2000 team had more two out and two strike hits. As far as pitching, dohmann, gabriel, webb, templet, bullinger was all drafted only ardion and faught will be drafted I think everybody else will agree with me that 2000 pitched better we where if I am not mistaking ranked 5th overall in era.

Bullinger signed as a free agent. He was not drafted. Gill, however, was drafted as a pitcher by the Yankees, even though he only pitched one inning in 2000.

You are correct about our overall ERA in 2000. That team didn't allow double digits until the final game against Stanford.

It's interesting to see all of the different opinions between the two teams.

I'll say that this team is every bit as good as the 2000 team. But, that doesn't mean they will advance as far.
