Thread: UNO to UL system

  1. Default Re: UNO to UL system

Well I think that LSU sees that UL is trying to get the Lourdes Hospital and bring up a med school---They would diminish our threat by growing Tech and keeping the UL M and NO with UL!!!!! We will have over 20K and Tech less than 10K!!!!

If LSU-S becomes part of La Tech, Tech's enrollment would be in the 16K-17K range, about the same as UL's.

I think UL needs to secure Our Lady of Lourdes Complex and build a Medical School ASAP.

It is sad that UL has to do everything on their own.

UL can't just build or add a medical school. They need permission from the UL system board...and I don't think they can get it. Maybe unfortunate...but I think that is the case.

UL used to have it's own hospital (Medical Center) tied to promotion of the Nursing School.

    Look what happened.

Well we need to start writing our local senators to get this changed. Terrible!! It is all about politics. Didn't at one time UL want a specialized tax region around Our Lady of Lourdes Complex to support the purchase?

And Tech and LSU are in bed together. Tech will end up in the LSU system and get there school. Will push their enrollment on par with ours.

We don't have enough senators to vote with us to make it happen...IMO.

I have a feeling we are about to get screwed royally. Tech will get a med school, move to the LSU system and we will be left battling it out with the other "regional" universities.

It makes sense for Tech and is probably efficient, bit this would most likely give them a strangle hold on the #2 position in the state.

If this happens UL will NEVER get a med-school or law-school. Once Tech has that, there is no turning back. Great. We will be left with ULM, NSU, SLU, and any other regional university in the state. UL might as well just have undergraduate programs.

Possibly as a compromise we would be named the flagship of the UL system in that case.
