The Lamar pitcher had an ERA of almost 10 prior to this game. This guy is not that good!

BTW - It was a joke. Carillo is the best pitcher in the country (Miami) Has never lost as a starter, around a 0.8 era.

Shambeaux pitching bottom of the 8th, two outs, make that 3, Shambeaux strikes out the third batter. Lamar 3 UL 1 going to the top of the 9th!

I knew I should have listened to the whole game.

Cajuns find possibly their number 3 starter, but forget to bring the bats! Cajuns lose 3-1 to Lamar! How sad is this, Cajun fans!

  10. Default Meyer stifles Cajuns

BEAUMONT, Texas - What a difference three weeks can make.

And what a difference quality pitching can make.

Three Tuesdays ago, Lamar's Cardinals were run out of Moore Field, with the homestanding Ragin' Cajuns rolling up 19 hits on the way to an embarrasingly easy 23-3 victory.

In that game, the University of Louisiana got 11 extra-base hits.

Tuesday night, the Cajuns got two ... two total hits - their lowest hit total in over three seasons - off Cardinal pitchers Scott Meyer and Allen Harrington. Their reversal of fortune was the most important factor in Lamar's 3-1 victory at Vincent-Beck Stadium.

"Last time, we faced a great team on a night where every one of their guys it seemed like had their best night," said Harrington, who retired the last 11 batters he faced after entering the game in the sixth inning. "Coming here, we were determined that wasn't happening again."

What happened was Meyer kept what had been a red-hot Cajun offense in check, giving up a first-inning single to John McCarthy and a sixth-inning RBI single by Josh Landry. Other than those two hits, UL (29-7) got exactly two base runners, one on a two-out walk and one on an error.
