I completely disagree. You do the small things to win ball games. Every situation is different, and I have all the confidence in the world in Robe and the Cajun coaching staff. If you like gorrilla ball so much, go 50 miles east and watch LSU lose ball games by scores of 14-10 etc. Sure they might be hitting homeruns and pounding balls but they are also losing series in conference. Stats and longballs impress fans... but winning is the only way to advance. Do what it takes to win... and if that means a 3 whole hitter laying down a bunt and winning by 1 run so be it. Im in no way attacking your post, just arguing.

I think you misunderstood though. I am not calling for gorilla ball, but I would like to see the big guys be given a chance to drive in runs, whether it comes from home runs or line drive gapers, than trying to lay down bunts. Maybe even more hit and runs with guys like Hawk instead of bunting. I think we are forgetting what a great pitching staff we had in 2000. While Ardoin and Faught are as good of a 1, 2 as there are in the nation, the rest of our staff is questionable at times. Don't get me wrong, they are very talented, but inexperienced. I just think we need to get as many runs as we can when we have the opportunity instead of playing for one run.

For your info., I was an all parish and all district selection in high school baseball and played American Legion ball at the Tigue.

Enough of this anonymity though. My name is Shelly Maturin. I don't expect any of you out there to reveal yourselves, but if you know me you can vouch for me to Oldman. Those of you who know me, if there are indeed any of you out there, know how much I HATE L.S.puke. I am a season baseball ticket holder and always will be. I too love Coach Robe and don't want him to go anywhere. However, I think Coach Robe would be the first to tell you that constructive criticism is fine with him, and if you think you know it all, you are beat.
