Here is my opinion of Robe.
Deep down inside he is still the great coach he was in 2000.
The problem is he has been beat down emotionally from all the years the previous administration had a who cares attitude about the athletic program.
All it takes is for the new administration to show a little care and Robe's fire will be back.
Its kind of like an employee that works for a company that is down, not expanding or giving raises and promotions. The employee's fire inside him gets put out.
All of a sudden the company gets bought out by a new company with high aspirations and lofty goals. They promote people, give them raises etc...
Now all of a sudden this employee that was once a great employee that lost his fire all of a sudden has a new zeal for life and is back to his old productive self.
I already see signs of the old Robe coming back. It takes a few years. Its not instant. But he is starting to get his fire back.
Lets not give up on him, because he did not give up on us when he damm well had every right to go someplace else when he was highly marketable.
The shoe is on the other foot now. Its time to give him the same slack that he gave us the last 10 years.
I said it when we hired Trahan, he is a recruiting BEAST. Schef brought in some big time players and even in the transition to Trahan, the Cajuns still competed and won the league title. It will get much better in the next few years. Of course, then people will comain that the Cajuns never won a national title.

I must have miss this???
I feel like bandwagon king right now. I am getting jumped on from every angle. Its not like I brought in upon myself.
Just wait and see my predictions will come to fruition, they always do!
In all seriousness, I get tired of the damn same stuff after every game. Soft this, weak that. Just once I would like him to tell Jay after a game. "Jay I f*ked up, I didn't have us prepared, I made the wrong call. I should have taken Geith out after he gave up 3 bombs in 4 innings and 3 straight hits to lead off the 4th. We had a righty ready in the bullpen, but I left Geith in against the righty, it was the wrong move and they made us pay. After that we were just too far behind." Instead we get the "We weren't mentally tough enough... blah, blah, blah" .......
Once again, I will say that Robe needs to feel pressure, not be fired. He doesn't need a pat on the butt and an oh well, good season coach. It needs to be felt by him that if he goes 3 or 4 years without performing, then he is canned. We have blown games with bonehead mistakes. Games that could have given us an at-large bid before the conference tournament started. We are not going to get the athletes the big 6 get, but we can damn well compete if we learn how to play the game fundamentally. That is how teams like UC-Irvine and Coastal Carolina got there. Our issues can be fixed because it has nothing to do with talent but commitment to the little things.
Still waiting for that SLU coach to make a regional appearance. 2011 doesn't look like its going to be the year for him. Can you say 2 and BBQ?Why is it Apples to Oranges? Both D1 baseball, both similar conferences, though it is a step up. He's had success, but so has Robe. At least Robe has won championships, been to regionals, etc. Also, who's to say Artigues didnt just have a single great class the last few years similar to say our class that left in 07. Robe, by all means, has one of the best incoming freshmen classes in the state and region.
Anyway, thankfully this is all hypothetical and all the "what have you done for me lately" fans dont make decisions.
Exactly you can't tell me that all of these kids are mentally weak. Someone has to make them that way.
When you start a kid on opening day after watching him all spring and he goes 0-6 in his first two games and then doesn't play for a month, you don't think the freaking kid is going to be a headcase the next time he gets in the batters box.
