Yeah game over. Somehow 10-6 makes it sound WAAAYYY closer, but I guess it was really the one inning
For the record, Southeastern lost 12-0 yesterday and they're losing 5-2 today.
My Thoughts....
1) If we would get rid of Robe, college coaches would scratch their head before thinking about coming here, because we would be getting rid of one of the best pitching coaches in the country. (Want a case study of firing a successful coach, look at NC State basketball and Herb Sednek).
2) Why would you fire a coach who is responsible for selling the most season tickets in the program history?
3) You don't fire him, because finishing 3rd in your league and being a bubble at-large regional is now a "bad" year for your program. An expectation level that he is responsible for creating.
4) IF a new Tigue gets built, it will be because of a large amount of private donations, no coach on our campus is better respected by the Lafayette community than Robe. By the way he has waited patiently for its construction as well.
5) Someone quantify reasonable expectations for this program. Because, since 2000 we have been to 5 Regionals. That is one every other year.
6) He runs his program with class and his players graduate. Everything people love about the Tigue was created under Robe's watch.
7) He has been loyal and not thrown his name into every high major job that opened.
Why is it Apples to Oranges? Both D1 baseball, both similar conferences, though it is a step up. He's had success, but so has Robe. At least Robe has won championships, been to regionals, etc. Also, who's to say Artigues didnt just have a single great class the last few years similar to say our class that left in 07. Robe, by all means, has one of the best incoming freshmen classes in the state and region.
Anyway, thankfully this is all hypothetical and all the "what have you done for me lately" fans dont make decisions.
