Cajuns gotta swing the bats in both games tomorrow like they did today to win.
It is on the bats tomorrow. Today we saw Paige Cormier and Natalie Fernandez really step up and provide some much needed bite to the rest of the order. If they bring it tomorrow the way they brought it today, they can do it.
That's not going to be the issue. While it will be difficult to score against Crabtree, I'm more concerned with how we stop their bats, with Ashley having pitched almost 400 pitches so far this weekend and Christina out of the picture. Mike & Stefni are smarter than I am, but the only way I see us winning both games tomorrow is to pitch Shelbee in the first game and hope Ashley can tough it up for a finale.
...the Cajuns are going to need to score more than Houston, and to do so their bats are going to need to be on fire. Everyone knows Brignac is out of gas. The bats have to smash Houston from the first pitch to the last. The Cajuns bats can light up anyone, and they're gonna need to do that tomorrow.
Brignac isn't going to shutout Houston, and you can be 100% positive no one else that is healthy on the Cajuns roster has a chance of keeping the score low.
The bats gotta swing strong tomorrow.
I know we need to win the first to be able to get to the second so some might say we go with Ashley but to get to supers we need to win both. Can anyone believe that Ashley could pitch both - don't think it's possible or even wise for her own good. Rodgers has got to try to carry the load on first game and maybe relief in the second. Remember, this is a rebuilding year. Hamilton and Rodgers along with a warrior Ashley are back with all but Gabby.
Ashley Brignac is about to put the team on her back Greg Jennings style.
They were going to pull Brignac when she gave up that HR in the 7th, but you saw it on Brignac's face. On the stream they showed Brignac look at the coaches and clearly mouth "only 2 more outs, this is mine."
Willpower will only take you so far. That was the case in 2008, and that will be the case in 2011. Why bring Rodgers on the bus if she isn't capable? She's more than capable. Put her out there in game 1. yank her before the big inning if she gets into trouble, and start her again in game 2. Do the same thing. If Rodgers gets the job done in game 1, then start Brignac.
I'm not near the coach the Loteifs are, even in my dreams. But Houston saw Donna B about to lose control of that game against Texas and they took her out before she gave up the game. They won 1-0.
Start Rodgers and be prepared with a quick hook. See what she can do. You might be pleasantly surprised. If the bats come alive, Crabtree is beatable. We got to her late in that Friday game. Just couldn't finish it off. No offense to Donna B, but she's very susceptible to big innings when the other side isn't wearing purple and gold. We can do this. Just not expecting 14 solid from AB.

Agree we need to swing the bats. What concerns me is that our biggest bat was lame. It was very obvious that Orgeron was having trouble. I'm hoping it doesn't get worse over night.
My guess is that Ashley will start...but I could not argue with starting Rodgers and seeing what happens...having Ashley ready to take over if needed.
But it will take some runs to win out. Games of 2 or 3 runs won't do it. Bats gotta show up.
