...as far as the team Hudspeth inherited.

The OL makeover began when Hudspeth focused on nutrition, endurance, and athleticism for the OL, and Mitch Rodrigue will be the unsung hero that turned the ugly ducklings into swans, or maybe a better anology would be golf carts into TANKS!

MissingMandy, I bet Kyle has learned something incremental and useful since Coach Rodrigue arrived, details that have made him a better player. My point is not that he did not stack up with the rest of the OL, but that they all have learned more of "the little things" that are required to win the fight in the trenches...

Time will tell, but IMO the number of goals achieved with UL's OL revival will be directly proportional to the team's success in the 2011 season... _
I am sure he has learned alot and will have a great season. As far as last year goes...there is alot people will never know. Leaving it at that.

Last year's record solidified an over 100 ranking. There is really no other way for national folks to assess us. When you go 3-9, your evaluation isn't going to write up pretty. And even though we're all pumped up about Hud... that hype means absolutely nothing outside of the fanbase.

No team ever got better by dwelling on the past. Hud and UL don't have a past. Our program is in the infancy of RCAF, Hud and a much different outlook on the importance of football at a southern public university.

    We're number #1.......... #1........... #1........... !!!

Here are my thoughts for what they are worth:

This site has WKU and UNT both ranked below us. I think you can consider those wins for us. We were 6-6 the two years before that in spite of ourselves.

Last year we shoulda/woudla/coulda won at troy.

Our team will be better prepared, coached and conditioned...

Mandy, KP's a good kid, as are the others, I'm sure. Last year, the OL players weren't pathetic, but the play of the OL was. Of course, there were a LOT of reasons for that, including numerous injuries. That caused a lot of shuffling and inconsistency. We aren't far removed from being a VERY good offensive team. And I believe we have the young men capable of performing that way again. My hope & belief is that with the change in staff, there is a transformation of these young men into a cohesive unit that performs up to (and even beyond) their capabilities. All the best to Kyle this year! Got to pull for those FHS Bulldogs to do well - Ross, too!

Thank you for your kind words to Kyle. It should be a very good year for everyone. Watch out for Ross...he is going to shine just like he did in high school!!!! He just needed the right coaches to put him out there.
