The 25th ranked Ragin' Cajuns posted a performance for the record books on Friday night as they dropped South Alabama in five-innings, 10-0, to advance to the Sun Belt Conference Championship Game at LamsonPark on Saturday.

One of the many headlines for UL was Ashley Brignac's seventh career no-hitter. The Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year threw all five innings, walking just one and striking out four. The no-hitter by Brignac (29-5) was her second in six-days as she shut down La.-Monroe last Saturday.

The shutout marked the 22nd of the season of the season for the Cajuns who are now 40-1 when opponents score two runs or less.

On the offensive side of the ball, Gabriele Bridges made NCAA history as she blasted her fourth grand slam of the year, a new NCAA single-season record. The Cajuns' senior first baseman was 1-for-3 on the day with the four RBI.

Sun Belt Player of the Year Christi Orgeron also saw her RBI total rise as she drove in two to bring her record-setting number to 92.

The Bayou Bombers have now combined for 43 home runs, the most by any duo in the country. The duo has also combined for an astronomical 168 RBI>

Natalie Fernandez was the only Cajun on the night with multiple hits as she went 2-for-3 with two runs scored as the Cajuns (48-9) posted seven hits as a team.

In another headline, the Cajuns pushed their current winning streak to 10 games, marking the third time this season that the Cajuns have posted a double-digit winning streak.

Over one thousand fans filled LamsonPark for the second consecutive night as 1,110 saw the Cajuns victory. The total attendance at the tournament after three-days is now at 8,703, marking a new record for the Sun Belt Softball Championships.

The Cajuns would get on the board first with two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Brianna Cherry got things started with leadoff single. Natalie Fernandez would then single and Katie Smith would walk to load the bases.

Lindsey Croft (8-4) would then walk Nerissa Myers to surrender the first run and Christi Orgeron would lift a sacrifice fly to bring the score to 2-0 and bring her RBI total to 91.

UL would put the game away with seven runs in the third inning on four hits. Taryn Broussard would plate the Cajuns' first run with an RBI single up the middle to score Paige Cormier. Fernandez got the next RBI with a single down the third base line to score Cherry and give the Cajuns a 4-0 lead.

Orgeron would reach on a fielder's choice ground ball with the bases loaded to move her RBI total to 92 and give the Cajuns their third run of the inning.

With the bases still loaded, Gabriele Bridges would make history as she lifted her fourth grand slam of the season over the center field fence. The four-RBI shot set a new single-season NCAA record and gave Bridges six-grand slams in her career, tying her for second place in NCAA history.

The Cajuns would tack on one run in the fourth inning thanks to a Sarah Draheim triple and a wild pitch, giving the Cajuns their final 10-0 lead.

The Cajuns as a team have now scored 454 runs, breaking the UL and Sun Belt record of 437 set by the 2006 team.

With the win over South Alabama, the Cajuns advance to Saturday's Championship Game to face Florida Atlantic. The Cajuns and Owls are set for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.

The game will air live in certain Sun Belt Network markets on stations other than CST and CSS (mostly in Texas). Fans with CST can see the game at 7:00 p.m. CT while fans with CSS can see the game at 6:00 p.m. CT.

The Cajuns will be chasing their 11th Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship in the 12 years.
