Thread: Get ready for the post season

UL Softball Get ready for the post season

This was a good week for the Cajuns as they move on to the NCAA tournament. They moved up 5 spots in the rpi rankings last week with a somewhat mediocre record by their opponents. This week, opponents went 48-38, Cajuns went 3-0. Our Sun Belt opponents have separated from the rest of the at large pool and none of them have a shot. The Cajuns have FIU, Troy & Middle on their side of the bracket, FIU should be playing with a lot of confidence after knocking off FAU. I'm thinking USA comes out of the other half of the bracket.

This is the last week to impress the committee, the selection show is next Sunday night. We need to pay close attention as to what is going on in the SEC and Big 12 because, right now, those are the most likely teams we will be seeing in regionals.

We have a chance. I also have a chance of winning the lottery. Our RPI is 42. LSU has an RPI of 24. Houston has an RPI of 21.

Assuming the I-10 corridor is deemed a reasonable geographical location for hosting the scale will tilt heavily towards LSU & Houston. Lots of other teams in this part of the world in front of us as well.

Assuming both Houston and Baton Rouge have poor showings in their conference tournaments and we win ours, would that help our case?

Nice Costanza reference by the way.

I think money/bid and location are a bigger priority than ranking. If I bid 100,000 to host and other schools only bid 50,000,the NCAA is more likely to give me a Regional(my opinion).

Highly unlikely, mainly for the reasons Cajun90 gave. Houston & LSU are two of the hottest teams in the country and their geographical proximity to us, their perceived better standings (stronger conferences, stronger schedules, lower rpi) and the resources upon which they can call, should keep them ahead of us in the bid process.

I don't see how. 4 wins over the teams in our conference vs. 1 loss by LSU to Georgia or 2 losses by Houston in the CUSA tournament doesn't seem like enough to move us past them.

I wouldn't think that LSU would allow themselves to be outbid in Yvette's last year, nor would Houston, who hasn't been in the NCAA tournament since we beat them in 2008.

She was 15-6 in 27 appearances. She had a 1.63 ERA, gave up 5 home runs in 528 at bats, had 126 strikeouts in 141.1 innings and had a .197 batting average against her. I would say she was a pretty good complement to Houston's #1 pitcher, Amanda Crabtree.
