Jay was refering to why I would take the University of Louisiana @ Lafayette job. MY WIFE AND I SAW SOMETHING THAT HUNDREDS OF COLLEGE COACHES COULDN'T SEE. A GREAT SCHOOL, WITH A LOT OF POTENTIAL IN A BEAUTIFUL CITY. And by the way we interviewed with 3 other Universities (Lamar, Troy and Southeastern). If you listened to our pre-game interview right before the SUN BELT CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME in Denton in March Jay Walker said and I quote ''NOW I KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU WERE THINKING". IT'S BEEN FUN and WE ARE NOT FINISHED YET.

You just have no idea how much it blows my mind to see UL's women's basketball team have a winning season, let a lone a Sun Belt conference championship, wins over programs like FIU, WKU and ASU, and being one game away from post-season play.

When I was an undergrad, my roommate was a sports med major and he was assigned to the women's basetball program. We went to lots of games, even road games. This was the Dwayne Searle era. One, two and three-win seasons, totally overmatched players, 100-point losses to Tech. We saw it all: one of the worst collegiate programs ever.

Then I was the public address announcer for two years during the Gay Nix era and covered women's basetball for the Verm. Now we're talking five-to-eight-win seasons with some slightly better players. Progress? Yes. Good? No.

So to see the current success after witnessing many, many, many ugly games, and several coaches who we thought were the next savior, it's just amazing. You guys have earned every bit of praise that has come your way.

You are soooo right! I have never seen a time where the women's basketball team was good. Even when the great Kim Perot was here, the team wasn't that good. It wasn't an embarassment, but not that good. I never thought I'd see the day where we would field a respectable (much less very good) women's bball "program". Under Coach Hall we have earned respectability and are heading toward making it a REAL "program". Coach, I was in line with Jay's first question, but you've made a believer out of me. Congrats and best wishes for a long, successful career (especially at UL!). Hope you & your family enjoy a long tenure in Lafayette!

Wow, i think i have tears coming to my eyes!

BTW, there are no greener pastures for him to encounter! Once this program is the best in the country, and the women are playing in HALL Arena, this will be the college womens basketball mecca! Only our pastures will get greener!

Coach You had a lot of vision to see how great UL WBB could be and thank you for all your contributions to this great university.

How is Anna and what are her plans for the future as for as basketball?

Several people are asking about Anna. Anna is here in Summer school. Everybody I'm sure remembers that Anna didn't start to school until Jan of her Fresh. year. So she is very close to graduation. Upon completion of her degree from UL she will play in Europe. Anna has offers on the table (but the degree is the most important). Anna is very talented in the books as well as basketball. I think she has a chance at the WNBA one day as she gets older. Anna's best basketball is way ahead of her because of her age. She's only 20.
Thanks for all the support and we expect everyone of the "die-hards" to bring at least 10 new people to the games next year. We would like to see the place packed. We are going for all kinds of records in attendance next year.

Growing up as a kid I remember all the jokes and bad words sent to UL.

University of Slow Learners.... USL sucks

USL could never hang with LSU

    USL is for Losers....

UL will be in Division 2

    Blah Blah Blah

Everyone asked me in high school where I was going to school and I'd say UL.... some would laugh, some would talk about how they were going to LSU. (More so the ones who never ended up in college)

Anyway.... I told myself that I'd be there through thick and thin. I also said that by time I was a senior... UL would be good all around. I never gave up on UL... even when people didn't want to go to the games.

Well, I start my senior year in the fall. So we've just won the Sun Belt Conference Championship in what LIKE EVERY SPORT.

I'm proud. My closet speaks for itself. I've got about 15 or so ragin cajun related shirts, several hats, pairs of shorts and more.

I bleed red and white... never heard of anyone bleeding purple and gold. I respect LSU and I like LSU, but nothing can touch how much I love UL sports. I like them because the people who've been going to the games... since I was a freshman and had losing football seasons.... have increased. We might not be winning in every sport, but people know that we are trying. We are improving as a whole. This University doesn't need the backing like LSU, because we can do this on our own. As more and more people graduate and become TRUE UL FANS, unlike the governor, this city will have one of the finest Universities in the South.

I have a pretty good streak going at the football games. For a while there they were undefeated at games I was there from start to finish. The first 2 years I made it to like 7 football games. UL was 4-0 when I stayed the whole game. 0-3 when I got there late and I left early one time.

I think that this season will be great. Last season was awesome... being there as UL took it to their opponents. This season will be the one.

As far as WBB goes, J Kelly Hall deserves so much praise. He's taken a team that no one even knew existed and brought them to the top. I've snuck in on a few practices and he works his players hard. He deserves a lengthy contract and hopefully raises to go with it down the road.

I'm usually working nights during school, but I promise to make my senior year one where I make as many games as possible. I want to be at as many WBB games as possible and I'm bringing a crew with me.

Every time you hear Sun Belt the first thing that will come to mind is UL!

    Thanks man.

I used to get a kick out of my physical therapist cause I always showed up in UL clothing. They had a guy in there that went to LSU and I was always ripping LSU. They really enjoyed it when I walked in the door lol.
