I can't believe this still hasn't been done! I've had as much patience as anyone regarding Nelson's management/leadership skills; but if he screws this one up he needs to start packing his bags. Not "having a chance" to get a formal proposal to the University is total BS. That's his darn job!

I realize there is a lot of other things going on right now; but this is as important as any. If we truely want Women's basketball to succeed, get this done before the current contract expires!
I agree completely! If Schexnayder lets Hall slip away, I will be extremely saddened and disappointed. IMO, there's no excuse to letting Hall slip away. And money should not be a problem either. In the completely unreasonable excuse that the university can't afford, let's do some damn fundraising so we can. Whatever we need to do to keep Hall, let's do it!

    God Bless.

P.S. In reference to the current salary (less than $70K). If we can't even be around the league average ($104K), then we have no business talking about getting into a "better conference". Everything (slight exageration?) will cost more if we want to be part of a "CUSA type" conference. Granted it should generate slightly more revenue; but this is not acceptable.
    Rant over. Back to work.

As was stated on Stevie-P (Stinkin' Genius) show, Womens Basketball is the #3 College sport in Ameriaca, behind Football and Mens Basketball.

A caller then called in saying that UL and LSU do not draw in Womens basketball so Nelson has a delima on his hands. He continued saying how much more money does Nelson give to a sport that does not draw. He must not have gone to the last several games for the UL womens basketball team. It was electric and PACKED!!!!!!!!!!!! Acadiana WILL support a WINNER PERIOD!!! The last two classed of J. Kelly Halls have been steller, and last years ranked in the top 25 in the country with the states #1 point gaurd and the #1 Jr College transfer, also a 6'5"(can run the floor)center, and more!!

This is how I see things! J. Kelly should be paid at the level of where he has gotten the team. Won the West, lost in the finals, that puts him in second. Pay him. The money is there and MORE is coming in. I for one WILL get Season tickets this coming year for the first time. I do have a boxseat(6) for baseball, 5(level 100)mens basketball, and 7(35 yard line)football and have spoken with a friend of mine that wants to each get 2 tickets for Cajun Softball this upcoming season!!

PAY J. KELLY HALL, DR. A AND NELSON, GET IT DONE(build it and they will come) PAY COACH HALL AND YOU WILL HAVE TO MOVE THE WOMEN INTO BLACKHAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm begining to think that NS is encuraging Hall to leave...How can you justify his salary in comparision to the rest of the coaches in the SunBelt??? This is crazy to me!

Exactly! As stated, when you remove Hall's salary from the equation, the average goes up another $4K. This guys should be paid in the top half of SB coaches; not the toilet. Anything less than around $110K is an insult! I know football drives the ship; but to be considered an "all sports program" we need to step up in all phases instead of being cheap just because its not a "revenue profiting" sport. And I agree, if this program continues to improve EKL will not be big enough. Just not to Blackham!

Finally. Has anyone ever heard a definitive reason why Poggi was not retained? I did see an article that stated "some parents of players" were not happy; but also saw where others were fine with him. What really happened, and have they found a new coach yet?

It is sad when we can't compete with the other schools in our conference. We will never reach our athletic goals without spending a few dollars to retain quality coaches.

Dr. Ray Authement remembering Al Lamson

"By raising the stakes of the fund-raiser, he taught us to think big and to dream big dreams. ... Throughout our friendship, Alfred was always there to help the university in any way he could. He never asked for anything in return. ... One of the greatest loves of his life was the Lady Cajuns softball program."

Softball got all the Alfred Lamson love publicity but I personally witnessed at the end of last season how he was adament about taking Lady Cajun basketball to the next level. The only chance is giving coach Hall what he wants.

This conversation between assistant coach Rosalynn Landes, Joe Abraham and Alfred Lamson was concluded by Mr. Lamson offering/promising to pay for 2 banners. One was for the conference championship, and the second a banner to hang in the Cajun Dome for Kim Perrot.

In essence it was about getting the Lady Cajun basketball program the respect it deserves. I can think of a half dozen ways to give the Halls the money they need and deserve. You gotta "think big" and dream big dreams! Show Lamson you learned something Dr. Authement.

Ragin' Cajuns Re: J. Kelley Hall contract still uncertain

I would like to once again "THANK" all our loyal fans for all your support. My wife (Meredith) and I are trying to get this worked out with the University. There has been no formal offer made from the university. We would love to stay and raise our 2 children here in Lafayette. Both of our daughters were born here.

We keep hearing that the university "can't afford to keep him longer than a year or so". NOT TRUE. We could stay here forever and finish what we started, which is win CHAMPIONSHIPS and do it the right way and with Honor and Integrity. Those were the things that Mr. Lamson was the proudest of. He shared in our GLORY and on numerous occasions told my staff and me so.

To the person who mentioned that Mr. Lamson talked about those 2 banners, you are right, he was adamant about those 2 banners being hung and rightfully so. IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.

I hope and pray that we get to finish what we started here. We love it here and I can't say "THANK YOU ENOUGH" to all the fans. You are what keeps us here. Between our players and you fans, It has been a GREAT AND FUN RIDE.

No matter what happens we will be forever Grateful and Appreciative to you for all the support you have given to the program. WE BUILT IT AND YOU CAME AND FOR THAT WE OWE YOU.

Hope we get to stay, just didn't want anybody to think that we were greedy and trying to bail out. I do have a family to take care of and as you people know in this business you are only as good as your record. We would like to just be paid the average and stop worrying. I THINK WE HAVE EARNED THAT RIGHT.

And just for the record, we are going to be pretty good next year as we have been selected to play in the PRE-SEASON WNIT (1 of 16). It will be released in 2 more weeks who we play and where. KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED and keep coming to the games.

Thank you for your belief that so called "mid-majors" can compete on a national level.

Thank you for your class in dealing with the players, media, and fans while creating a successful season.

Thanks you for your professionalism in dealing with an administration who sometime seems to not return the favor.

I hope everything can be worked out, and I hope you wear the Vermilion and White until you hang em up.

Get Mr. Hall the money he deserves we should not have to have a fun raiser.

Coach, I will be first in line and I feel many would be right there with me. One simple golf tournament per year and a $2/ticket/?#of home games would go to offsetting any budget woes in relation to the Salary increase monies needed!!

    Avg ### fans/game x $2/ticket x 12 games = $alary Increa$e
    500................................................= $12,000
    750................................................= $18,000
    1,000...............................................= $24,000
    1,500...............................................= $36,000

Add to this Coach One Golf tournament per season, say $20,000!

Add these Two fund raisers with some university money and not only do you get the league average but your assistants would be better paid.

    DaddyCajun,

ps My daughter wants to go to your camp this summer, hope to see you there or earlier!!!

There are MANY ways to raise money and I would pay $500.00 dollars to play golf for a combined Sport(Softball & Lady Cajun Basketball) Tournament!!!
