Thread: Let's see how many people want J Kelley Hall to stay?

  1. #11

    UL 1984, 1999 . . . .

This is a no brainer, he should stay and we should do anything it takes to keep him.

I keep reading things like "Whatever it takes."

    Let's see.

    Would you double his salary?
    Would you triple it?
Where will you get the money to do that?

Of course we want him to stay. But this university doesn't have unlimited resources.

We'll do what we can for him. But there's only so much we can do.

    UL 1984, 1999 . . . .

If you pay him now by doubling or tripling his salary and he continues to build a winner, then we will get something in return by fans going to the games and getting our money back. If we have to get some money elsewhere then do it, if not then I guess there's really nothing we can do but let him go to another team. I just say try to find money from anywhere to keep him and he'll repay it by having fans come to the games and through things like that.

Kelly Hall (coach Bustle has yet to prove to me that he is in this catagory) do not come very often and when they do, you do what it takes to keep them...Boise State as an example gave their coach Hawkins a huge raise to keep him from bein grabbed up by the big boys and now they have begun facility upgrades that will keep them competitve for years to come.

I knew i would take heat for that post because of my statement about Bustle.

He has made great improvements to our facilities and put a lot more people in the seats but he has yet to put the wins up like the other coachs.
I said that this is a big year for him because it is the team he recruited and i truely hope to be made into a believer

    Translation:
We will offer him a minimal bump. He will take the best offer, IF offerred other jobs.

and I have absolutely no problem with that

I would rather we direct our resources at rewarding Coach Lee.

Keep him he beat ASU this season and they're in the WNIT quarterfinals. Keep him.

  9. Ragin' Cajuns excuse me??

"I would rather we direct our resources at rewarding Coach Lee."

Why do you say we should direct our attention to Coach Lee? Does Coach Hall not deserve the same support and resources as Coach Lee? Is it because he is the womens' coach and not the mens'? I am the biggest Lee fan out there, but you have to admit, look at what Hall did with what he had and look at what Lee did with what he had. They were both extremely successful, but overall I think we got "more for our money" with Hall. Another aspect, Hall has proven he can recruit and win with his players, and not to mention his great class coming in next year. How many prized recruits do we have already signed for next year with Coach Lee? Believe me I am not bashing Lee I think he has done a great job and wish him continued success. I am just a litle concerned with your comment about directing our resources towards the mens' program instead of the womens'.

Whether you like it or not, all universities put priorities on which Coach gets paid what.

It's not like we are sitting here with a pile of money and pondering on which coach to give it to. We're talking about a very tight budget.

I'm willing to bet that this university has made a decision that SHOULD money become available, we will first look to Coach Bustle and Coach Lee in terms of increasing of salary.

This may sound harsh, but it's reality.
