After months of sitting in limbo, Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball coach J. Kelley Hall will be staying in Lafayette.

A source familiar with negotiations said Hall and Cajuns Athletic Director Nelson Schexnayder have agreed to a four-year contract that will keep the program's most successful coach at the university through the 2008-09 season.

The deal will make Hall the first coach of a women's program to receive a multi-year contract from the university. With the exception of football, men's basketball and baseball, other head coaches sign one-year contracts annually.

Neither Hall nor Schexnayder would confirm that a deal had been reached but said negotiations were continuing.

"We are looking into his contract situation," Schexnayder said. "But I'm very hopeful that we are going to be able to reach an agreement soon."
