Kelley Hall's first inclination was to tell the Women's National Invitation Tournament, "No thanks," when he was approached about his Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns playing in the Preseason WNIT next fall.
Hall had just seen his Cajuns fall 67-52 to Middle Tennessee in the championship game of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in March, tying the school record for wins with a 22-9 record, and the NIT told Hall that UL was not on the list for its postseason event.
So when Louisiana was asked about playing in the fall, Hall was tempted to take a pass.
But time heals such wounds, and Hall is ready for his 2005-2006 Cajuns to take part in the 16-team tournament this November.
"It's pretty prestigious to get invited," said Hall, who remains in contract talks about extending his stay at UL. "I talked to the guy who runs the tournament (Brent Amick), and he said he's waiting on contracts to be signed, but we're in.
"As of 10 days ago, there weren't any SEC teams in it. So right now, it looks like we could be sent to Norman to play Oklahoma. We might even be able to host a game."
The University expects to hear from the WNIT by the end of June.
