  2. Default McCARTHY'S RBI DOUBLE IN EIGHTH CAPS CAJUNS' 9-6 COME-FROM-BEHIND VICTORY

Louisiana's game against Lamar on Tuesday is Second Chance Season Ticket Redemption Night

LOUISIANA La. - John McCarthy's two-RBI double to right field in the eighth inning proved to be the game-winner as the No. 16-ranked Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns took a 9-6 victory here Sunday afternoon over Le Moyne College at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Louisiana@La. (19-4) rapped out 14 hits and is now 14-1 this season when having at least 11 hits in a game. Le Moyne (3-8) lost for the sixth time in its last seven games.

UL Lafayette's Kraig Schambough (3-1) earned the win, going two innings of hitless relief, while striking out three batters. Jon Maduro (0-2) received the loss for the Dolphins, going one inning. Maduro allowed four runs on three hits, while striking out one batter with three walks.

The Cajuns put up a run in four of the first five innings. In the first, John Coker scored on a Dallas Morris ground out to give the Cajuns an early 1-0 lead. The Cajuns added another run in the third to increase their lead to 2-0. Morris extended his hitting streak to 14 games with an RBI single that plated Coker. Tatford had an RBI single in the fourth, followed by another Morris RBI single in the fifth that plated Coker.

For the second game in a row, a Louisiana@La. starting pitcher was unable to stay in for more than half the game. Jonathan Cottrell lasted only three innings after surrendering five runs on five hits in the fourth inning - Cottrell didn't allow a base runner until the fourth.

Thad Montgomery relieved Cottrell after the Dolphins took a 5-2 lead. Michael Affronti singled through the left side. Keith Connors then tied the game with a two-run home run to left field. Brian Hansen followed with the Dolphins' third straight hit. Andre Enriquez gave the Dolphins their fourth hit of the inning, giving Le Moyne two runners with no outs. Andy Parrino's single to center field plated Hansen and Enriquez, giving Le Moyne a 4-2 lead. Phil St. Amant later scored Parrino for the Dolphins' fifth run of the inning.

The Dolphins added another run in the sixth, increasing their lead back to two runs, 6-4. Enriquez drew a lead-off walk. Parrino followed with a bunt single that advanced Enriquez to second. Both runners then advanced up a base on an errant throw by Phillip Hawke. With one out, St. Amant plated Enriquez with a sacrifice fly to center field.

The Cajuns began their comeback in the seventh inning with another run, cutting the Dolphins' lead to one, 6-5. Coker scored his fourth run of the game on a McCarthy double to right field. After the Cajuns scored the run, Jon Maduro replaced Ryan Woods on the mound for the Dolphins.

After Hansen led off the eight inning with a double to right field, senior reliever Kraig Schambough replaced Montgomery on the mound. Montgomery went four innings, allowing one run on three hits, while striking out six batters.

Schambough then retired three batters in a row to end the eighth.

The Cajuns' offense finally came alive in the bottom half of the eighth inning. Landry, who had been struggling of late, led off with a walk. A Micah Cockrell ground out advanced Landry to second. Jonathan Lucroy pinch hit for Adam Massiatte and plated the tying run in Landry with a single through the right side. Coker then reached on base safely for the fifth time in the game on a fielder's choice. Jameson Parker followed with a walk, putting runners at first and second.

McCarthy plated the go-ahead run with a two-RBI double to right field that gave the Cajuns an 8-6 lead - their first lead since the fourth inning. Morris followed with an RBI double down the left field line that scored McCarthy giving the Cajuns a 9-6 advantage.

Schambough shut down the Dolphins' side in the ninth to seal the Cajuns' 19th victory of the season.

Morris led the Cajuns offensively, going 3-for-5 with a game-high four RBI. McCarthy went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Coker went 4-for-5 with five runs scored.

Parrino went 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Dolphins. Hansen went 2-for-4, while Connors went 1-for-5 with two RBI.

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns return to action Tuesday to host regional rival Lamar University in a 6:30 p.m. game at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Tuesday's game is also Second Chance Season Ticket Redemption Night. Season ticket holders are reminded that they can redeem any unused tickets from any of the Cajuns' previous 14 home games in exchange for tickets to Tuesday's game.
