When I first moved to Lafayette to go to LTC (long before I started at UL), I went to Judice to find out what all the fuss was about. I don't get it. I want to love their burgers, and they are good, but I've had much better elsewhere.
Love the burgers at Southside. And Legends is surprisingly good.
The problem with choosing the best burger is the abstract of the BEST BURGER--Can one use our sight, taste, and smell of it to describe what it would be-----For the Boomer it would be a toasted bun for the bread although the best bread I ever had was a NO po-boy hamburger----Creole tomatoes from Plaquemines Parish----great cold fresh iceberg lettuce----THICK patty with excellent meat quality cooked between rare and medium rare( my choice is the open flame for that smokey taste----Whatever your pleasure with add ons---the combo of grilled and raw onions--mushrooms----Tabasco, mustard(yellow and hot), MINEEZ, and catsup--one extra on the bun--large enough to soop up the juices!!!! Now the pickles for me are on the side and I like those vertically sliced --Kosher Dills!!! Bon Appitite(SP)---This is my 3rd edit---But to have the hickory sauce from Bud's Broiler would be great!!!!
Alright guys, I know and have eaten at most of the places mentioned here and they all have their great points. Now for something COMPLETELY different: http://phils-grill.com/ (Be sure to look at the menu!)
**The only thing that sucks is that the owner still hasn't taken my advice to open a location in Lafayette!! You tell me if this place wouldn't blow up there!!!
Try Gary's in Freetown, The Filling Station downtown, or the Original Ground Pati on Johnston Street.
FROSTO in Crowley. Their burgers are similar to Judice Inn's, but, they are even better (not dissing Judice Inn.) Also, you can get tomato on your burger at Frosto, something you can't get at Judice.
Ground Patti
Daiquiris Supreme
Dwyer's can be real good, Dwyer's can be real bleh.
Count me among those who don't get Judice Inn. Unless you're into tiny, overcooked, dried out pieces of ground nothing smothered in stuff.
I miss Beau's Place on Pinhook...
Anyone try the burger at The Elephant Room? How about the Kobe Burger at Bonefish Grill? I had the latter and loved it, but not enough to do it again while foregoing their Chilean Sea Bass....
You all know that I live in the Baton Rouge area. I live about 6 miles from Mason's. This is our new hang out! We are eating there at least once a week now, and cannot get enough. Today is my birthday, and the entire IT dept. went to Mason's for lunch. I talked most at the table into a burger.

I want a burger now....thanks guys. As if I haven't eaten enough ______ to kill me today already!!!
Oh yeah, and my brother spent some time in Lafayette last year for some training and went to Max's Pool Hall for a burger and was AMAZED. He said it was the best burger he ever had. Now we have since found Mason's here in BR. So I guess I need to ask again now which is better.

This must be a misprint. Had their burger Thursday night for the draft & have to say it was awesome. It will be very hard to beat. I don't see how they could serve their burger for three bucks & stay in business. We will be going to Morvant's haven't been ther in a long, long time.
