Even with Oriene Greene cut, how much does this hurt the Cajuns and recruiting? It seemed like Robert Lee, who claims to have recruited Greene, never used Greene in recruiting. No player like Greene has come to the Cajuns since Lee became coach.

There were never updates on Greene´s performance on the website, or during home games. Even worse, Greene´s ESPN.com page didn´t even have Louisiana: Lafayette listed as his college. Greene was never brought back for an Oriene Greene Day at the Cajundome.

There may be a place for Greene in the NBA. A 6´5 defensively minded guard who, admittedly, can´t shoot might have a place deep on the bench. He found a spot on the Celtics and then the Pacers. Even though rarely used in the league, Greene needed to be promoted by the Cajuns as an example of where a Cajuns basketball player can go. But, he wasn´t.

This leads to an important question: how will the Cajuns promote their few, but important professional athletes? As it stands, there are only pictures of pro players on the RaginCajuns website. There needs to be a daily or weekly update of each player, professional or semiprofessional, and their success in their respective league.

When BJ Ryan gets a ridiculous contract for recording three outs a night, that´s important (there was never any information on RaginCajuns.com after he signed the deal with Toronto). When Charles Tillman has an entire page in Sports Illustrated dedicated to his workout plan, that´s important. When Ike Taylor has a huge impact in SuperBowl Jerome Bettis is from Detroit, that´s important, too.

Athletes look to previous athletes to see how successful former athletes of a certain college have been. Who cares if there are many Cajuns in the minor leagues. The message is they were Ragin Cajuns and they are paid to play.

The Cajuns must do the following...

1. Have constant updates, and one page on the website, dedicated solely to the statistical and personal success of former Ragin Cajuns athletes. And not just Jake Delhomme.
2. Each home football game needs to be a Former Ragin Cajun Day. Have an Ike Taylor day, BJ Ryan day, but they need to be players recruits can watch now. Ron Guidry being a Cajun is great. But 17 year olds don´t care. They care about CC Brown and Charles Tillman.
3. There need to be video professional updates on the website, using footage from the respective league, and, more important, DURING THE GAMES. Show video footage and show stats of former RaginCajuns now.

These are not all hard to do and, better yet, it´s easy to grab a sponsor. People want to be associated with professional success.

With Greene out, and Delhomme and Stokely´s time winding down, the Cajuns have to promote their current and up and coming pro athletes.

I will say that this site does a great job of keeping up with former players who went pro...
and the Athletic Network does a great job as well.

Yes, Raginpagin.com and AthleticNetwork does a great job of keeping up with former players. But, how many recruits and casual fans -- fans the Cajuns don´t have at the moment -- have the time to search both sites for updates on pro players?

This information needs to be available on ragincajuns.com Recruits must be able to see you can become a Ragin Cajun and later get paid to play your sport. Brian Hamilton is bouncing around México playing basketball. Sure, he´s not in the NBA, but he´s getting paid to play. Players with NBA level talent won´t become Cajuns anymore --- Evans is no longer the coach --- but many players with semi pro talent levels will come and want to see they can make it by becoming Cajuns. At the moment, they´d have no idea, sadly.

Signing autographs and ¨representing the Cajuns¨is great. Every player, regardless of university, does that. There have to be video updates during games and updates on the website. Remember, this is easy to get a sponsor. Their company gets time during the game, during radio broadcast and on the website.

Ike Taylor is hosting a charity event. A former Cajuns athlete who is competing in the NFL and won Super Bowl ¨Jerome Bettis from Detroit¨ and yet there´s no information on RaginCajuns.com. This is an easy feel good story and there´s nothing.

I think Elijah Milsap has a chance to play pro ball. He was a freshman last year. Our incoming freshman, Chris Gradigno is the highest regarded signee we have had since Kevin Brooks. Brooks played three years in the NBA with the Denver Nuggets.

He had the final hand in producing Orien Greene, Dwayne Mitchell, Tirus Wade and Chris Cameron.

They all played pro ball. I know this fact creates new arguments but I'm not going htre.
