But players that recognize their limitations and have the desire to get better, can. Bruce became a 3-pt shooter (go figure), got better at the line, and now even has a mid-court shot. If Oriene can make similar progress he can have a nice professional career.
Did anyone notice that of the 14 points he scored against Cleveland, he was 2-2 from 3 pt range... I was surprised. I read in a Boston article that the Celtic shooting coach was having him work on his leg strength and a glitch in his shot. I think he'll work hard; my thought with Oriene was that he needed to be more aggressive...ala Mitchel, Wade, Hamilton. Now that his leg injury is healed, he is the only one that can stop his growth... he is definitely one of the smoothest players I've seen in a while.

Also did anyone see that Dwayne's team at the Portsmouth Invitational won the whole thing, he was 3-5 from the field and 4-5 from the line with 20 minutes. Southall's team played in the 3rd place game, but he did not have nearly as good of a tournament as Mitchell did, according to the box scores that is. You can go to www.portsmouthinvitational.com to check up on how they did the entire tourney.

P.S. not sure if anyone else noticed Mitchell driving around town in his '07 Cadillac Escalade, hmm.

Another 14pts tonight, to go along with 5 steals which is a new high.

On the front page of Celtics.com, they are currently running a brief highlight video from the season. If watch during the dunk section, you'll see several dunks by Orien himself. Worth a watch if you ask me.

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Celtics waived guard Orien Greene on Friday, two days after picking up two point guards in trades during the NBA Draft.

The 6-foot-4 second-round pick last year out of Louisiana-Lafayette averaged 3.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 80 games as a rookie. He averaged 15.4 minutes per game.

The Celtics had until Friday to waive him and not owe him any more money.

I would hope that Orien has established himself as a solid NBA roster player, no doubt. Otherwise, it is really ashame to do everything right and be looked upon as part of the future of the Celtics and then be suddenly let go in a heartbeat.

I also think that Ainge and the coaches there love the guy so they will be supporting him in his free agency now.

Orien should have a fair advantage of any rookie on the teams he tries out for.

I would think he is a shoo in to make a roster somewhere in NBA this year. May be for the best, since now he can take his film from last year and seek out a team that is not so guard heavy like the celtics. The celtics actually did not have great guards, but they were deep with veterans and those guys got minutes ahead of OG understandably. but Orien was a double figure scoring and multiple steals guy in games that he started or came off bench for a lot of minutes.
