Don't be too hard on these guys, I can think of many thing worse than a college age male having a little marijuana on him.

While Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns began preparations for Friday's challenge against Louisville in the NCAA Tournament in Nashville, two former players were being arrested on drug charges.
Michael Southall, 22, was charged this past weekend with driving the wrong way, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Also charged was Cedric Williams, 22, who faces charges of obstruction of justice, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Williams was a member of the Ragin' Cajuns in 2002-2003 and 2003-2004, playing in the NIT the first year and the NCAA Tournament a year ago when UL won the Sun Belt Conference.
He was academically ineligible for this year's squad, but remained a student at the University.
Southall missed last season with academic problems, then was academically eligible to resume his Cajun career last summer when he was charged with violating parole for earlier legal issues.
He was a member of the Cajun program in 2001-2002 and 2002-2003.

So much talent and such a waste. Hopefully these two will recover one day and find themselves. Penal institutions have great athletic competition; I'm sure.
No excuses. Pot is illegal and both have a bad track record for regarding the law. Get over it; and hopefully General Lee will find a couple of law abiding citizens to fill the scholarships he was holding for these two thugs.Originally posted by Chris Farley

After reading this article, I think Cedric Williams may have his charges dropped. He was riding with someone else who had weed in the car.Originally posted by SwampHound

You're just as guilty as the other guy. No difference. One of the few things I remember from defensive driving classes a couple of years ago.Originally posted by Chris Farley

You are wrong Farley
LA RS 14:130.1- Obstruction of Justice-Tampering with evidence with the specific intent of distorting the results of any criminal investigation.
Sentence of not more than 5 years with or without hard labor not more than 10,000 fine or both (felony)
Possession-Constructive/Actual-If its in the car and he has knowledge, which obviously he did since he tampered with it, he's in possession.
Also Southall has a prior conviciton in Wisconsin which means he should have been charged with felony possession of marijuana.
Verdict- As I said way back both these guys are trouble let the go.
Such a sad situation...Someone needs to get M.S. to conduct a psychological evaluation and see what part of his BRAIN is need of assistance!
Just to be informative...neither Southall nor Williams were going to be on scholarship next year. With much respect to the General and Shex, they did not want to give them a chance on scholarship but to make them work hard to play for the team next year. Unfortunate to see this, it really wouldve made a nice story to see how two troubled "yutes" were able to right the ship sailing in the wrong direction.
BTW, not that anyone asked, but my opinion on these guys were- since they were not on scholarship, i had no problem if they desired to make a comeback. I never felt they wouldve been a cancer because it is quite easy to dismiss someone from a team that is a "walk-on." I feel like everyone deserves a second chance, but must be willing to work for forgiveness and not have it given to them. I liked what our school was doing with their appoach to them...so sad to see them pass up this opportunity. My best wishes to them both!
I was just thinking back to a certain LSU RB in the late 90's who had a problem alot like this. He got off, but but maybe being an all-american for the Tiger helped.Originally posted by Rebel02

Two former Ragin’ Cajun basketball players were recently driving the wrong way on a one way — in more ways than one. Michael Southall and Cedric Williams were arrested in Lafayette for possessing and smoking pot while driving the wrong way down a one-way street. Williams had been academically ineligible for the team, and Southall had been arrested previously on a parole violation. (In his home state of Wisconsin, Southall also had prior marijuana charges.) If there was hope that the two would return to the team next season, their recent troubles have clouded their future. Ironically, just hours before his arrest, in an interview with KLFY TV10, Southall stated: “The things I’ve been through, you have no choice but to change. I had a lot of time on my hands just to think, to reflect. I’m just taking responsibility for my actions and grow as a man, an individual, a person …” — RRF
