Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns aim to climb past the 20-win mark today with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Centenary at Ragin' Cajun Softball Park.
The Cajuns of coach Stefni Lotief improved to 19-2 with Wednesday's 1-0, 3-0 sweep at McNeese State, which featured career wins No. 105 and 106 for senior pitcher Brooke Mitchell.
The All-American hurler is the school record-holder for victories, as well as the owner of the most strikeouts (1,142) in Ragin' Cajun history.
Mitchell is 15-2 with a 0.28 earned run average this season, with 171 strikeouts in 98 1/3 innings of work.
She is coming off an impressive outing at McNeese in which she fashioned back-to-back one-hit, 15-strikeout gems, coming to the rescue of a UL squad that did not have its usual power at the plate.
McNeese pitchers limited the Cajuns to five hits in the first game and seven in the second, although senior center fielder Jill Robertson went 3-for-6 with a pair of runs in the two games and left fielder Crystal George posted a 3-for-3 game in the nightcap.
