The Cajuns came in at #54 in the Adjusted RPI (#58 in the Base RPI), through Wednesday's games, with a .5541. The Cajuns lost .0006 in RPI bonus as Rice slipped to #26 in the Base RPI (.0010 behind Arkansas). Rice is #23 in the Adjusted RPI. Southern Mississippi (#5) and LSU (#16) are safely in the Top 25 RPI, contributing .0048 to the Cajuns' RPI bonus of .0066.

Marist is a mere .0004 behind the Cajuns at #55 and Arizona is .0015 behind at #56. #53 Duke is .0035 ahead of the Cajuns with a .5576.

There is nothing involved in calculating what was in these threads. It was based on reports produced by someone else. The what-if scenario with USM was simple math on top of these reports.

Now as we get closer to season's end, I want to calculate the Adjusted RPI in real-time (before the reports are published ... as in the same night), as well as play what-if scenarios. For that, I have a workbook with the results of the Cajuns and all of their opponents ... all in separate linked sheets. This allows me to calculate the Cajuns' Adjusted RPI on demand. You saw this last year.

But honestly, my nine year old daughter can do all of the math. It is no more complicated than when she calculates batting averages and free throw shooting percentages by hand (we do not let her use the calculator).

Note that the reason for the increase from .5508 (thru Tuesday) to .5541 (thru Wednesday) was due to a healthy increase in OWP (.5231 to .5322), as this comprises 50% of the Base RPI formula.

It is possible that Marist passed the Cajuns last night, as they were only .0004 behind the Cajuns (according to Boyd, Marist is in front of the Cajuns ... he simply rounds to three decimal places). There were only seven games played last night, but one of those games featured an opponent of Marist (Bryant) and that opponent won. This could be enough to push Marist slightly ahead of the Cajuns (disregarding any impact yesterday's games has on opponents' opponents of Marist and UL).

That said, this could also be an illustration where Boyd not compensating for ties may make a difference between the Pseudo-RPI and the Adjusted RPI (which more closely imitates the official RPI).
