Cajun T... in your very educated opinion.. how much will these two players help our program and our current players?

Also is there any chance of UL landing that 6'10" to 7' that some midmajors find and ride?

Well, I thought the Cajuns were high on Payton and they may still be, but he left without an offer yesterday. Thompson gives them another athlete that is similar to Brown, but a better shooter from the perimeter. The SBC is a guard oriented league and the Cajuns will have Brown, Jackson and Thompson on the floor at times this season; they will matchup much better with the best backcourts in the SBC.

Payton is over "6-1" and is a good defender and shooter, he would be the PG for the future. My guess is they have someone their waiting on, not just Shaun Long. They have another high school forward they are working on, but I don't think he is "6-10", Colby fits that criteria.

Could Thompson sense his offer would have gone to Payton?

Have we landed Colby or close to?

Thanks for the information. Given that this is Marlins second year.. do you feel like this team will be closer to his "style" of team or are we another year out?

The "Colby" CajunT was referring to is Kadeem Colby. He is a 6'10" JC inside guy we SIGNED back in November. My understanding is that his game is similar to Scottie Farrington excpet that he is taller. As of now Javan Mitchell would likely back him up.

Where is Thompson's home town? I saw that he mentioned his dad "coming down to Lafayette". Just curious... Sounds like a good one. Welcome aboard, AMT!

No Thompson is a 2 guard, Payton is a PG. Kadeem Colby is a "6-10" JC that UL signed in the early period as Mike stated.

If the Cajuns got Gathers, it would be one of the biggest recruiting steals for the program in quite a while. Don't really see it happening. But hey, who knows.
