Tough to tell. Going into today the Cajuns had two scholarships available. AMT would take one of them. I expect the other one to go to a high school big guy, like Shawn Long. Another scholarship would open up if a current Cajun left the team, but I haven't heard of that happening.

Middle Tennessee coach Kermit Davis is tight with Brunswick CC coach Walter Shaw. But the Blue Raiders had already signed three junior college guards.

And I've been told that Alan-Michael Thompson's announcement today even caught the Cajuns coaches off guard a bit. (They now know about the move from what I'm hearing.) He had told people that he was going to visit Middle Tennessee this weekend.

In Thompson, the Cajuns get a talented shooting guard with tremendous athletic ability, a strong scoring sense and a nice touch from the floor. His athleticism is impressive, as is his ability to run the floor.

His junior college coach, Walter Shaw, compared his game to that of NBA guard Jason Terry.

Thompson has several highlights on YouTube:

Some people ask why he was overlooked by many on the recruiting trail. The coaches I spoke with told me it's because of his size (6-2 for SG) plus the fact that he doesn't play for one of the JUCO power conferences in Texas or Florida. They said he's a high-major player if he's a couple inches taller. He's definitely fun to watch because of his ability to play above the rim.

His videos are impressive. He is definitely very athletic. Maybe we can get us some more "dunk you very much" calls.

Alan-Michael Thompson just called Cajuns coach Bob Marlin to make his pledge official, according to Brunswick CC coach Walter Shaw.
