Memphis brought in a junior college center, Stan Simpson, this weekend for an official visit.

Why does that matter? If Simpson doesn't commit to Memphis, don't be surprised to see the Tigers - and assistant coach Glynn Cyprien - try to bring in Morgan City forward/center Shawn Long for a visit.

None of that matters if Long commits to Tulane on his visit there this weekend, but something to be aware of concerning his recruitment.

Shawn Long update: He left his Tulane visit on Sunday without committing. Tennessee called on Saturday. VCU expected to come watch him work out soon.

Spring signing period starts Wednesday. I guess we may find out soon if Mr. Long wishes to be a Cajun. I feel he may string this along to where our coaches take someone else.
