Thread: Thompson Commits to Cajuns

  1. Default Re: Ragin' Cajun Blog: Brunswick CC guard Alan-Michael Thompson commits to Cajun

Also, John Ehret point guard Elfrid Payton said his visit went well today. No offer yet. Plans to visit Tulsa at end of the month.

Glad to see him commit. We need to add another kid from high school! What the heck is the connection between La and Tulsa??

MT will spin this as they did not really want him. What probably happened is someone else committed and they did not want to wait on Thompson to make his decision.

Mike, MTSU already signed three junior college guards. Then the Blue Raiders went and offered another high school guard out of Las Vegas last week. AMT never really fit into MTSU's plans as of last week, but those coaches continued to string him along.

It all worked out for AMT in the end. The Cajuns have a need at SG next season, and he'll have a chance to play immediately. Win-win situation. Meanwhile, MTSU will do whatever it's going to do next season, and Davis will be out unless he has a great year (from what I've been told).

Is he gonna be able to make immediate impact with our squad? (like start next season?)

I think so. He will have a chance to contribute immediately at shooting guard. Daigle and Bureau are gone - both played that spot in the past. Mbamalu is back and started there for 18 games this past season. Brown is also back but can also slide over to small forward in smaller lineups. Even if AMT doesn't start, I'd expect him to play significant minutes.

And the bottom line is MTSU can spin all it wants to. Davis is a lame-duck coach up there, and Marlin is in the process of turning things around in Lafayette.

Here is my interview with Thompson late today. I focused on the factors that helped him come to a final decision to commit to UL.

His new nickname is...AMT. Not to be confused with the Alternative Minimum Tax. Next tax season, if we all get hit by AMT, we will be very happy.

These are the type of players that will continue the Success of the Program, Great pick up for us. He can jump, run, shoot, and play D, he will fit in nice with those guys. Next guy we gonna get is Ricardo Gathers, WATCH
