A universal truth. . . People want to be where people are.

Sometimes people are happy just being around the edges of where people are.

When enough people send the message that they missed a great game . . . they will leave the outhouse.

UL can average 40+ k regardless of conference. I believe that, and I believe that in another 10 years, the SBC will be the best non bcs football conference bar none.

Guys I hate to do it, but I've gotta bring this back to earth.

If we average 25-30K for the next 3 years, that would be badass enough.
Hud hasn't won a single game yet. If he doesn't win, his pep rally spirit is not gonna keep people coming to the stands.

I believe he will have some success, but it won't be overnight like most people think.

I want everyone to think about something for a second. UL had neglected athletics for 30+ years, so for anyone to think that our potential fan base is limited to 30-35K per football game is selling this university short. Look how Louisiana supports a winner (LSU), if the Cajuns were to average 8 wins per year for the next 5 years you would see our average attendance double. We have 750K people to pull from within a 40 miles radius, if you think for one minute that we can't get 5% of them to come to a Cajuns game then like J1M stated, you need to talk to HUD.

About the tailgating------With an RCAF membership a group becomes eligible to purchase a spot---2 stickers are given for each place---Any other vehicles are charged to enter UL parking--about $5 per car---UNless they have their parking sticker from being an RCAF member!!!! Any objections to that????? Seems OK to me!!!!

I think that's a good idea, just not yet. Let's get people out to Cajun field, have a good time, and want to keep coming back before we start trying to make a few extra bucks. Newcomers and/or people who only come occasionally may be immediately turned off by getting charged to park at Cajun Field. Jmo.

WELL FOR 2 PEOPLE IN THE CAR IT IS $2.50 PER PERSON-----4 IN THE CAR $1.25 PER PERSON----NOT A BIGGIE-----BUT $5 PER CAR TIMES ?????? CAN PAY FOR THINGS------QUESTION HOW MANY $5/CAR SANS RCAFers----maybe 2K---that is a cool 10K and with the 50/50 ----we need that badly!!!!!!

DIDNT MEAN TO STRIKE A NERVE. Again, in my opinion, we should be trying everything we can to get more people interested in the program (Hud is kickin _____ at this already), let them see what a good time they can have, and put a good product on the field to keep them coming back. I agree that we need more resources, but in my opinion, people who have rarely come and want to see what the buzz is all about, but have never previously been charged to park, may be immediately turned off by that without seeing any results on the field. Once we start fielding a competitive team and entertaining the casual fans, they will contiune to come. THEN, once you have a little bit of loyalty, paying a few extra bucks may not even be noticed. And if it is, the vast majority will not mind paying it, because they have seen the results, and will be wanting more. Again, just my opinion.

Or look at it this way, if you do this now, all the bandwagoners will assume this is the way it's always been b/c this will be their first year coming to games, and if you loaded up the car, got the kids with their Cajun gear, packed the ice chest, bought food prepared your day out at Cajun field only to let 5$ to park change your mind! Then I don't know what to tell those people, everyone has gotten away with everything free for long enough. If we want to play with the big boys, you gotta pay like the big boys. Say it's only 4000 cars, which is a low estimate I think, that's 20k times 5 sometimes 6 games a year, that's 100-120k a year just in parking. Put that in a fund for hud's new 500k a year contract extension in 4 years

Because the wager I offered up was based upon this coming year's attendance being at least 6000 stronger per game average than last year's. The discussion has become whether the people of Lafayette would support the team all year, & my stand is they will absolutely support the team all year & next year, even if they have a sub 500 season this year. The reason being, because people know that Coach Hud has to build his talent level to an SBC championship level, which this team has never had since it's been in the SBC. The silent majority realize this & will give him a year to let his first recruiting class mature.

They will look for major improvement next year & a kick butt SBC champion in the years to follow.
