I wonder how they calculate students since they didn't scan our IDs (they never do at football games). Great attendance and atmosphere nonetheless.

Lots of multiple sets. As mentioned earlier some plays took a while to form while under center. Spikes is our man at RB. Walker looked ok at times. Hopefully his injury isn't bad.

    Offensive line needs some work.

Ladarius Green is a monster. Tight end Number 86 had some nice catches. Butler and Surgent are the best receivers.

Lots of screen plays and options out of the shotgun. Masson is the best QB we have. Gauthier looked good at times running and throwing. Other times he looked lost. His decision making needs to improve. Also Masson looked very good in the 2 minute offense leading the red to a td in less than a minute right before half. Broadway wasn't what he was hyped up to be but he has the tools and I think he will be alright.

Overall a very good day and the crowd was very good. Hud made it very clear at halftime that he appreciated the turnout and wants to sell out Cajun Field on a regular basis.

  4. Default 2011 Cajuns Spring Game a Success

First year head coach Mark Hudspeth and Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns football team wrapped up spring practice and put on a show for over 5,000 fans at the Red & White Spring game on Saturday.

From the write up on ragincajuns.com, it appears that Gautier played a lot better than indicated, especially when playing with the red unit. I don't think that there is going to be any controversy as Masson will be our main guy for sure with Gautier likely backing him up. I think this offense will be made for Masson.

The real improvement I saw was that we seemed in better shape. The OL seemed bulked up but no big bellies (only one lineman seemed out of shape). Lots of development needed in line. Running game has a long way to go. QB will not be a real strong position unless someone really steps up. OK but not All SB talent. Receivers looked good on routes. Caught some tough passes. A few drops. More attack from DL but may have been OL work. But who knows, I'm a B-ball guy. Will be more fun at football games. Coach Hud will keep all cranked up. Will have a harder time visiting in stands this year. I expect Coach will call us out if we aren't paying attention and screaming all the time.

Are we getting a kicker in the fall. KOs are going to be our "ouch" again. Better coverage though.

The team will be in great physical shape for the season. Please no injuries.

from what I'm hearing, Carlos Alvarez has a big leg. That's just what I heard though

But you're right we need a kicker badly, Brett looked good on punts though

Good point. He did look good on punts. Good hang time seemed like. Coach seems to want him to only punt or kick not both. And punting seemed his strong suit. His first two FGs were a bit iffy. One good and one, well, not so. Against a tough wind but not too strong. Liked his foot work on punts.

Cordian Hagans is a beast. Bill Bentley looks like he hit a growth spurt and is still a beast. Melvin White looks to be developing nicely. Bernard Smith is our man at DE. Justin Anderson did a great job at LB for the white team.

In my opinion 82 (Lawson I believe) was the best wr. Great atmosphere!

IMO, Anderson was our best playmaker last year at DE. He was always around the ball making plays. I'm assuming you saw him at LB due to a 3-4 scheme or variation right? I think he's still playing DE. I expect big things from him this year. Also, Hagans may be our biggest X factor. We need big strong guys to plug up the interior to help stop the run which we've been extremely iffy against for as long as I can remember.
