Now is the time of year when I begin looking at RPI as something other than totally useless (in terms of having enough connectivity throughout the country to render something that is not ridiculous). I do not have Paul Kislanko's Adjusted RPI yet (just the Base RPI). But the next best thing (Boyd's Pseudo RPI) has the Cajuns moving all the way up to #77. Some rankings of note (Louisiana and Louisiana opponents highlighted) ...
#2 Southern Mississippi .649
#15 Texas State .607
#18 Rice .601
#19 Troy .599
#25 LSU .593
#28 California .588
#35 Florida International .580
#43 Tulane .569
#56 Southeastern Louisiana .554
#68 Florida Atlantic .545
#77 Louisiana .540 (Base RPI .5350 #78)
#78 Western Kentucky .540
#86 South Alabama .532

.
#101 UCLA .525 (UCLA has been disappointing)
The Cajuns are 2-1 against the Base RPI Top 25, 3-3 vs. the Base RPI Top 50, and 4-3 vs. the Base Top 75. The upcoming Rice (#19 Base RPI) and Troy (#18 Base RPI) games are particularly important for this category of the resume. Florida International (#37 Base RPI) may or may not hang in the Top 50, but should remain in the Top 75. Unfortunately, seven of these eight games are on the road, with only one of the games being a possibility for an RPI bonus. Finally, Southeastern Louisiana (#58 Base RPI) is sliding again this year and may or may not remain in the Top 75.
