The ball was kinda hit in no mans land behind second. Fuze was playing pretty deep but fontenot should have probably had it, idk how healthy Greg was tonight with the hamstring issue. I don't think he was 100 %. The play at the plate wasn't very close. If that's what u are talking about n

Great game. Glad I got to go. Sat behind home plate. Our pitching dominated this game. FAU only threatened once and got a cheap run on a lazy fly ball that found no man's land. With the way FAU has been hitting the ball, hats off to Hubbell and Satriano. They had them baffled at the plate. Hubbell kept that ball down and never even gave them a chance. Satriano had it working with his nasty breaker. Our infield is clicking on all cylinders. Bourque played great, made so many stops at 3rd. Strentz is coming into his own as the next great Cajuns backstop. We hit the ball hard. Very hard. Half of them where right to the outfielders. Greg Fontenot is what we want in a Senior. A grizzled veteran who can hit the ball anywhere and can pick it in the 6 hole. How things change. One month ago...so many questions. One month later....we have a DAMN STRONG TEAM!!!!!

    My comments from the game

First let me say this was a great college baseball game. I love good pitching, defense, and timely hitting.

Crowd was pretty good at > 3300, but I expected even better against FAU on a Friday night and perfect weather. I thought some may choose the Friday night game to go to with the game being on TV tomorrow and going up against the Final 4.

Hubbel set the pace on the mound with the 1st batter for FAU and I knew he had his command.

Fontenot has gotten much better each season and will be a 1st team all conference player and I would not be surprised to see him get some consideration for All-American. He is now batting close to .400 and always seems to hit in the clutch.

Since the addition of Marvel and Nichols in the line up we have more physical presence and the team has some swag right now. Still not a big HR hitting team especially at home but we are now swinging with confidence and hitting the ball much better.

Porrier is getting better on defense but I think he is still a liability. I am not sure what was wrong with Porrier at the plate last night but he looked awful on every at-bat. There were numerous times he swung horribly by letting go with the top hand, then letting go with the bottom hand , and took a 3rd strike, and in the last at-bat he just flipped his bat at strike 3 and missed.

Marvel is faster then he looks.

Bourque has been magnificent on defense at 3rd base and makes every play look easy on some really hard hit balls. I was very impressed with his D. Also glad to see him hit the double, maybe he is getting his bat going.

I really like the future with Strentz.

Satriano's home is in the bullpen. He is a stud in relief.

For a small ball team, we do not bunt real well. Fuse popped one up last night.

I dont know if Jay reads these game threads the next day. However I love his post game interviews with Robe but you have to really hustle out of the stadium after the game to catch it... I know there are timetables involved but it would be great if Jay would do the game recaps etc, go to another commercial and then talk to Coach Robe... Maybe Robe could do the print media interviews first....

Again I dont know all that is involved and maybe this is not doable but i do enjoy the interview and sometimes miss it...

Fontenot is having a great year, but imo, Troy shortstop Adam Bryant is the best player in the league.

Everyone is entitled to his own opinion; I like Fontenot. He's got a good Cajun name and he's our guy. I guess we're not "A House United".
