If we had started calling ourselves Cajuns before the 70's there would be dozens of grade schools and high schools that went by Cajuns and very few that called themselves Tigers.

Thats true CajunCall. I attended one of the "Tigers" grade school and high school. However, we used the correct colors, black and gold. While I actually do know the reason behind the purple, I still have never seen purple stripes on a tiger.
